    OEM Hardware/Software Distributers

Hello! Long time since I've been on Hexus, however its always been there in my favourites

I was wondering if anyone knew of any OEM distributers/suppliers.

I know about Scan, Ebuyer, Dabs ect, but these prices seem to be for ever increasing, and if someone was to build a complete system, the profit would be next to nothing :/

Basically, I am reading up on starting a computer shop, and I'm just at the moment reading up on the essential info

    Thanks.

    You want my honest advice?

    Don't.

I've seen tens of independant computer retailers start and fail within a couple of years. Some of them were really good, as well - but the profit margins just aren't there unless you can command significant bulk purchases on hardware *and* software: and as a small independant retailer you won't be able to. Add to that the fact that you'll struggle to offer more than the most basic warranty and will lose huge amounts of money dealing with returns if anything does go wrong, and the profits get eaten as quickly as you can make them.

If you really want a self-employed career in computing, offering repair and / or support services is a far more realistic model for making some profit, and you can offer custom builds as a side line. You wom't turn any significant profit on the hardware side of things, but it'll keep your hand in while the rest of the business actually puts bread on the table
