    Re: Don't vote.

I have to say my current MP - and I assume he'll be standing for re-election - is Gerald Kaufman, and I'm disinclined to vote against him because I think he's pretty decent (for a politician). But that means that if I voted, I'd still end up supporting Labour, whether I want to or not, because they probably have the best candidate (and they've certainly got the one with a proven track record)...

Don't worry, when the push comes to the shove the majority of people will realise that the best candidates are in fact the present Government.

But aren't they the people who have built up a massive deficit?

Did the consequences of the words (with some actions) of a US West Coast investor not worry you about the future?

Think of it this way, de-valuing the guilts like that, will mean we can't have 1,000+ secondary schools. anymore. We don't have the money.

If we had the credit rating of say Greece, we'd have to cut the NHS by roughly half based on 2007 figures I have here, it might well be more than that now.
(ie my dad might have had his chemo, but my mum wouldn't have had her treatment)

The effects of economic in-competence are felt hardest by the poor, like retired Armed Forces and Teachers, like my parents.

Self employed, who work internationally like me (ie I can be paid in USD/EUR/CHF) it actually works out better for, as my money can go much much further.

This can only be a troll, right? The sad thing is, a lot of people are so stupid/selfish that they really will vote for the current lot.

I suppose you have to decide if you love your mum and dad more than you love your wallet. No reply required.

Yes. Of course, if you're claiming that they're all right, then you're saying that everyone who votes for one of the other parties is wrong, so I really don't see where you're going with this.

Looks like millions are about to get it all wrong again then.

Yes; but on the plus side its looking like even though millions will get it wrong, their votes still won't be enough to keep Labour in!

I'm fully aware which portion you were referring to; it was perfectly clear...I was merely correcting it

Millions will indeed get it wrong; we just have different views about which set of millions that is.

    Re: Don't vote.

Everyone who votes is right, it doesn't matter who they vote for. The fact that they have taken part in the process is what matters. Personally, I don't think that either of the 2 major parties have a hope in hell of doing a good job this time round. Neither likes to talk numbers and have mainly been announcing 'popularist' policies and slagging each other off. I will be voting LD (as usual) as at least they have put some decently thought out figures to their budget calculations.
    Not around too often!

How can something that is so evocative of emotion about people I obviously have a bond with be qualified without no reply required be anything but troll bate.

I can be quite philosophical here and define what the purpose of my wallet is. It allows me to measure all the different commodities that make up my life, given how hard they are to come by and how important they are. It controls what I can have that makes it up.

There are some things which are quite important costs, for instance the transport costs of when I have to go and visit my mother in hospital, ever since university I've lived quite far away, my parents have the attitude its important to experience as much as possible, I unlike them haven't lived a year of my adult life outside the UK despite been 25 this month. Yet for me to get down there will cost between £80-120 return to the hospital. Money is a very important commodity, you either have to have a full 'silver spoon' upbringing or not understand (read retarded) the concept of money to argue otherwise. Even most communist societies use economic principles, whilst not free market obviously, to provide their services and prioritise whilst express what is possible with what resources.

Now if the choice was between going the way of Argentina in the 80s or my parents been sacrificed, I'm sorry mum and dad, but its an easy call. I know my farther is definitely altruistic enough to forcefully take that stance himself, my mother shamefully less so.

This is why the election annoys me, el Gordo is clearly to dangerous to be in power, but as most people don't know what a bond default means, let alone the consequences for a country that imports the majority of its food and fuel, with very limited exports.

I'm deeply shocked and worried at the lack of comprehension most voters have of these concepts.

But ultimately the election brings the issues down to a simple choice between two options (no one is seriously suggesting the lib dems be anything but the Penfold in a hung parliament?) I live in an area where apparently my vote matters, I don't like the only option I have, but I'd rather be taxed a bit higher on VAT, maybe have a localised income, than become rich due to economic catastrophe thanks to Brown.

Feel free to discuss any of the concepts behind my reasoning, or just promote a "vote labour, lets get those toffs" without listening to any harbingers of doom such as myself. Difference is I know I wont be happy if I get what I vote for, I just won't be deeply worried (and putting all my saving in global).
