But if you vote labour, because you know, your daddy voted labour, and if you didn't vote labour some kind of class system might be in effect..... I've actually heard a serf say this....

Those people can try and convince themselves he isn't that bad. They can try.

You know, I was almost starting to feel bad for Mr Brown after reading literally hundreds of comments across various group (not limited to Hexus), bashing him regardless of their allegiance (even Labour and Labour leaning Lib-Dem voters). Thanks to this thread, I no longer have to

He didn't get your money back from the Icelandic banks at all- he decided to use UK taxpayer's money to refund you, and then demanded that every Icelandic taxpayer should pay about £1000 a year for the next ten years to refund us, even though the vast majority of them gained little or nothing from the speculative excesses of their banks (in fact most of them have been considerably impoverished by their currency tanking).

This, to me, is equivalent to, say, a gambling ring demanding that if someone owes them money, that that person's siblings and parents should sell their houses to pay back the debt. It is, in short, little more than vicious gangsterism. And every time I think I see some redeeming quality in Brown, someone (you in this case) helpfully reminds me what an utter bastard he has been, time and time again.

Lucky for you lot, he is still going to be my MP. URGH.

He is a great example of confusing; dedication with bloody mindedness, prudence with grumpiness and leadership with bullying.

Not to mention he was somewhat involved with the mess that was "passporting" a bank inside the EU. Even paypal seam to know this is immoral....

For a moment, just a moment, I was wondering if I'd had a sense of humour failure or my irony circuit had short-circuited and I was missing it. But I don't think so.

Thank him? Like hell I will. As far as I'm concerned, he's a pompous and arrogant incompetent and by far the worst Chancellor in living memory. And his record as PM isn't much better, but his real damage was as Chancellor.

Even if we end up with a Lab-Lib coalition, my year has already been made. Finally, the Labour party have managed to find a way to ditch this nasty, bullying and hypocritical (bigotgate) asshole.

Good riddance to some of the worst rubbish in modern political history.

And that's the polite version of what I think of him.

Re: The Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP PM

Oh, and I note that he hasn't resigned yet. He's just announced that he's going to, with the usual open-ended caveats about "ensuring the economic recovery" first.

Besides, he knows he's toast either way. This is merely an acknowledgement of that, and a way of trying to appear gracious and statesmanlike, acting 'for the good of the country', when it's merely an acknowledgement of the inevitable and naked party self-interest, and to try to get out with the appearance of a shred of self-respect left.

He also screwed over the poorest workers in this country by first instituting a 10p tax bracket (a good thing) and then removing it a couple of years later.

That is because the fool never understand it costs money to collect money, so if it yields very little all it does is make the tax code more complex and we now have the most complex tax code in the world.

Oh yes - but you you forget to mention the horrendously complicated (and ineffectually applied) tax creditsd - more bureaocracy required to collect taxes and then return it as a handout.

...or in fact the labour government as a whole.

Sod you Gordon Brown - you utterly delusional fool. You've eradicated my human rights, buried the economy (note: way before the banks were fubar) and had a hand in making me ashamed to be British (iraq). So yeah, hurrah for Good Ol' Gordon!

Actually - one thing - John Reid - thanks for having the bollocks to tell the truth on the news last night.
