World Cup Rules for Respective Partner

    Dear Wife/ Sweetheart/Girl Friend/ Partner/whomever it may concern,

    1. Between 11 June and 11 July 2010, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of
what is going on regarding the World of Football, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail
to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not
    receiving any attention.

2.During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the
remote control, you will lose it (your eye).

    3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and
    without distracting me.

    4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refil of my drink or something to eat. You are out
of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell
    on the floor....It won't happen.

    5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to
nibble on (excluding your body parts), and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over
too watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good
game that I missed during the day.

    6. Please, please, please!! If you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, it's only a
game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time"". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love
you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of
encouragement"" will only lead to a break up or divorce.

    7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the
    comercials are on, and only if the half time scores is pleasing me. In adddition, please note I am saying "one" game ;
hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse too "spend time together".

    8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see
    them again, Many times.

    9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my
    attendance because:
    a) I will not go,
    b) I will not go, and
    c) I will not go.

    10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a gamme, we will be there in a flash.

    11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even
think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all
watch?" because, the reply will be, "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".

    12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to
these words, because before and after this comes the Champions League, Premier League, Italian League, Spanish
League, KPL, FA Cup, Euro Cup, etc.

    P//S

By the way if you get stuck on the road call the Police or AA.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

Fortunately, my wife and I are in absolute agreement, and our home is football-free zone. So none of the above applies.

I don't like football, and the hysteria surrounding the world cup annoys me, but I'd be lying if I said that didn't make me giggle

Funny that when utd win the league their 1st comment is " dont matter where you finish unless you win it " then when they don't its about who finishes higher lol typical

Ohhhhh touch a nerve have i ? and im glad that Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal Tottenham and City (well not so much them) can all say that to you this year ...

tbh anything less that 1st for Utd is a failure, our season has been a failure because we didnt win it.

Liverpool and Man City were more interested in beating Utd this year than the league, "small club mentality" ...

    Anyway back on topic !!

I dont care who supports UTD, the more the merrier, and i have supported UTD all my life and always will, people down south support UTD because they have a much wider fan base than everyone else ...

UTD is Global thats why we are the richest and one of the most supported club in the world ....

UTD have a Past, present and Future,

    Liverpool have a past ....

    anyway back on topic "again"

Re: World Cup Rules for Respective Partner

    An alternate version could read:

    Dear Wife/ Sweetheart/Girl Friend/ Partner/whomever it may concern,

In the coming weeks I will regress into a Neanderthal state, during which time whilst I am watching the men kick a ball around all you will be able to get from me are grunts (if you are lucky). I will be prone to fits of rage, or suddenly break out into strange dances. Do not worry, this is all part of this cycle.

At no point during this cycle must you comment on “how nice the men look”, or try and communicate with me in any way whilst the football is on. I'm not allowed to comment on how nice women are, so I see no reason why you should be able to say anything about these men. Besides, I'm much better than any of them anyway.

During this time I must consume vast amounts of alcohol for various reasons, including celebrating, consoling myself, or just because I feel like it.

I must also have free reign of the TV and the remote, as failure to allow this can result in actions that I cannot truly be held responsible for. Just like if I ever tried to disturb you watching your soaps.

You can celebrate in the fact that this state only lasts but a short while, unlike your soap addiction, which seems to be terminal. If England gets kicked out, my interest will wane, but may resurface briefly for the finals.

Once this stage passes you will be free to talk to me again, and I will be back to doing just as little as I did before.

Go England! Although in reality, they usually get kicked out in the quarterfinals.
