You've already stuck it long past the point of it making your life a misery, so good on you for getting out of there now. Hope you find something that suits you a lot better; whatever you do in the short term, it's summer & you're in Cornwall, if you can take something seasonal/with less pressure for a while it'd help put the Currys years behind you.
Walk past the shop on a really nice sunny day, eating ice-cream, and gurn in the windows at 'em, I should.
Mate, I'd love to but its an out of town super store, so I'd have to have reason to be actually in the stores car park.
I really will miss most of my colleagues when I go so my last day there will be quite sad, but what I won't miss will be all the hassle, agro and stress that comes with working there.
Depends in which sector of retail. I work for a largish local firm here which is fully retail but I support the shops rather than selling to customers. Its a good job which I enjoy but is still classed as retail.
Good decision on your part I think. I've always told myself that I will never do I job I hated, no matter the money. I've stuck by that and ended up in a pretty decent position.
Good on ya!
I applied for a part time job with the group of companies that you were unfortunate enough to be working for, they never had the common courtesy to tell me that the position that I applied for, on their website was a month out of date and not even how I did with the application,
I wanted to help people out with things that they needed not what they told me to sell, I wanted to make a bit of pocket money as a large chunk of my full time wage goes on household bills and the mortgage,
I would not live in fear of any reprimand as their are more important things in life than an insecure idiot who has to shout to be heard, others will hear and think that they are in a submissive group with you, the best kind of reply to any situation is a calm, positive one that incites a situation that you control, that you can bend to your advantage
Good job hunting, I hope you find your ideal !!
There may be case for constructive dismissal..........................but you should go through the company grievance procedure before acting on such a claim. The reason being that if it did go to an employment tribunal, and you won it would mean a 25% reduction of final compensation for not using the grievance procedure.

im guessing from mentioning Norton etc that you worked for Dsgi?
I just started working in a out of town Superstore currys and really enjoying it and the pressure to sell seems alot less then some say, i think you must of just had a bad manager and i would try moving to that other store if i was you.
Well I gave in my letter of resignation, other than him asking if I was sure there was no resistance or nastiness sent in my direction.
Feeling alot better about the situation now.
It entirely depends on the store and location too.
I did a stint at another store while I worked for a different company, and the demands at a flagship store were far higher, despite getting the same number of customers. The flagship store seemed to rarely hit targets yet the one I was in was a similar size, similar footfall and yet the store I mainly worked in rarely missed the weekly targets and so bonus (moral in the main store seemed higher, I think bonuses played a large part)
My duty manager who I get on with today tried to get me to change my mind, but he failed. I do like him though but sadly it's not him at the top, its the other guy.
It would seem I'm also not the only one who has had a similar conversation with him like th is recently. He's been doing the same to one of the female staff too, I've a feeling she's going to tell him she's leaving aswell.
