Oh I wasn't advocating using Bing. I think that their maps application is on par and their image search is as good as Google's, but they lack the one thing that would make them a decent search engine - i.e. relevant results. My housemate bangs on about Bing, but I can't see why.
Out of interest, does anyone ever bother going beyond page 3/4 in a Google search? I find that the first page is either bang on, or useless (in which case my search term was probably inadequate) and in either case it's pointless looking much further.
I actually like the large photos in Google at the moment. I don't see it here as i use "g <search string>" in opera or iGoogle [sic] butI saw it at work earlier.
As for Bing, I;ve just had a look and although I probably wouldn't use it regularly, it does look good and it fast to load in Opera. Speaking of which I'm impressed (although I shouldn't be) that everything now appears to work in Opera, their maps didn't before. Speaking of which, I like the terrain+roads default view of the UK, very pretty
Aaaand it's gone! At least for me and my friend it has.
I quite liked the one of the city scape but I still prefer the good old plain white background.
yup, gone.
But the "change background image" link at the bottom of the page is still there.

It was a pain at work, as images.google.co.uk and google.co.uk/images are both blocked by the country council, so whenever a kid or staff member fired up a browser (on which Google.co.uk is the default homepage) you got the Google search bar and the usual controls, but with this huge red warning behind it where the image ought to be.
Grr.
And we're back to normal
Edit: I was a bit late with that... didn't see the 2nd page

I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
