    Does anyone like Diet Coke?

Just had a can of Diet Coke (only because the office fridge has run out of decent drinks) and it was absolutely disgusting.

I'm surprised that Coke hasn't actually tried to improve the taste considering it (a) tastes absolutely nothing like real Coke (b) tastes like liquid carbonated sacherine.

Does anyone actually like the taste of Diet Coke? How many people would drink it if CocaCola could make it taste more like the real thing?

Re: Does anyone like Diet Coke?

Felt the same way when I tried Coca Cola Zero (or was it Pepsi?). Either way, I've not had any cola drinks for years (decade+), I switched to the 'uncola' stuff (Sprite/7Up) when I was about 12 thanks to a clever advert, and switched to pure juice/smoothies by the time I hit 20.

I avoid anything “diet” and anything that uses an artificial sweetener as much as possible. Real sugar for me!

I quite like Diet Cherry Coke, but I don't like the ordinary stuff.

    Coke Zero is much better.

Re: Does anyone like Diet Coke?

Wouldn't mind a sugar free alternative to Coca Cola tbh, aslong as it tasted like Coca Cola.
There's a constant supply of it in our fridge at all times and it can get really sickly, saying that.. I have a glass full of crushed ice, lime and Coca Cola to the left of me ^^

But yeah, bleurgh.. Diet Coke tastes so wrong.

Re: Does anyone like Diet Coke?

I like Diet Coke, I used to drink too many cans of full fat coke a day while a student so actively choice to switch to diet coke. Now "Coke" tastes terrible far to sugary, I think it all depends on what you get used to, after all someone must like "Pepsi Max".

I was bored and drinking too much fizzy juice offshore a couple of months back, so in order of preference:

    Pepsi RAW
    Pepsi
    Pepsi Max
    Diet Pepsi
    Coke
    Coke Zero
    Diet Coke

Re: Does anyone like Diet Coke?

I actually prefer Diet Coke, but have made a conscious choice to switch back to normal Coke to help with my weight.

Yes, I have got the names the right way round. The theory goes that
    1) drinking 2-4 litres of Diet coke contains dangerous levels of caffine which is messing up my metabolism.
    2) I only started putting on a lot of weight and over-eating when I switched to Diet coke, so the sacharine may be messing with my blood sugar levels and
    3) I drink a *lot* less when I have normal Coke, sometimes not even finishing a 500ml bottle and don't end up with the same cravings I do for Diet Coke.

Taste wise though, definately prefer Diet...

    Yup, proper brewer cola. Lovely.

I forgot to add Pepsi RAW to the list above (now corrected), it's yummy! Especially as a mixer.

Love it. Not as much as some of the other Fentimans range though, so I rarely have it.

Re: Does anyone like Diet Coke?

Diet coke is absolutely disgusting. I don't know how people can drink it - it's almost as bad as coke zero.

From what i remember reading it is actually more unhealthy than regular (And oh so good tasting) coke, due to the artificial sweeteners that they add in lieu of sugar.

So if you don't want sugar thats fine..but it doesn't make your drink any more healthy!

Same here, used to think it was awful, switched to avoid the sugar & now 'full fat' coke is minging. Those Pepsi Raw/RedBull Colas are disgusting, even worse than 'full fat' Coke IMO. Pepsi max is also foul!

Not that I drink a lot to be honest, trying to avoid the caffiene!

I don't know why anyone would want carbonated drinks. To me it just's completely unnatural and just makes you bloated. Smoothies or 100% freshly squeezed juices all the way!
