So it's you making that god awful racket ruining this nice quiet neighboured! Pilots, always thinking they are above the law!

To go back on topic (derailing a mods thread n all ) I spent 6 years as a child living on a RAF base in Germany, and used to spend many a weekend sat on the edge of the runway waving to the pilots (bonus points for Dad waving back!) as they landed. Even got a few tours of some aircraft (mainly the Tornadoes with the odd Hercules & Harrier). . I wish I had been a bit older & had a good quality camera, I could have got some fantastic pictures in & around the planes. That being said, this was 15 years ago though, I imagine the security would be a bit tighter these days.

Know exactly what you mean! Used to be a Runway Controller in RAF Base in Lincs where they used to take off and land right beside my vehicle. What a joy it was to work with the Vulcans - of course, no photos allowed back then during cold war times.

Just got back from Shoreham Airshow, all flights were pretty much canceled bar the Harrier, Hurricane, Catalina and Twisters.

There was a very brief flight from the Twisters towing a glider but..
The line slacked so they cut the tow and shortly after, the glider plummeted and crashed very very hard into the runway.

The pilot's alive, in hospital with back injuries.
I've got no video of the crash but a few of the aftermath which I'll upload with some others in a while. You'll have to wait for the DSLR shots though.

    Edit: I'll open a seperate thread - http://forums.hexus.net/photography-...ml#post1969635

Grr... your crap weather meant the Vulcan was stranded at Shoreham and couldn't reach us in the utterly stunning (and in my case heat-stroke inducing) weather at Sywell.
