Re: Stop moaning about the X Factor... please!

I like to view the X-Factor as an analogy for our political system... yes we get to vote but we have no real control over who we get to vote for...

As for Christmas No.1 then I think the best course is to just ignore it, as the point was well made with "Rage" last year. Continuing to engage in such shennigans just drags us down to their level of being deluded enough to believe it has any real meaning. I'd be hard pushed to remember any Christmas number one, but I know damn well why I wear a poppy every year!!
If Wisdom is the coordination of "knowledge and experience" and its deliberate use to improve well being then how come "Ignorance is bliss"

I do the same without the mocking. Most of us probably enjoy some form of "guilty pleasure" and so long as it's largely avoidable, I don't have a problem with people having different taste.

in asking people to stop moaning about the x-factor, you seem to have just moaned about the x-factor.

I'll moan about Strictly Come Dancing instead then. Why IS Ann still in, its so unfair, some 'dance competition'. If they really WANT to make it about the dancing, then ditch the public voting system and just let it rely on the judges.

I think they proved with John Sergeant that it's an entertainment show until the judges get really hacked off, at which point it becomes a dance competition.

Strewth Nick calm down, there wouldn't even be an X-Factor thread if you hadn't started it.

The X-Factor will end for good after the current series.

I watch it - but then someone I know was in the live finals so it's hard not to see how things go for them.

Re: Stop moaning about the X Factor... please!

The judges are all working to Cowells agenda, the show and the whole series is formulaic to the extreme. It's all looking a bit old, used and well run through... a bit like Cheryl, the talentless lip-synching Geordie clothes horse.
She is pretty fit though to be fair

You're right, of course. I think "relentless tongue-in cheek" rather than "mercilessly" would have been a better choice of word(s). Mainly it's just my wife that's the recipient (and she gives as good as she gets). Secretly I am actually very grateful for the programme as it allows me uninterupted gaming time while she watches it.
