I love this assault on BA courses. Half of the cabinet have a PPE don't they ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

Ok, they rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbished more away, demanded to be paid stupid amounts of money to dig coal and build cars no one would buy etc.

But FAR FEWER of them went to uni. As I said before if you looked at the cost of funding a degree by the general taxation its probably the same, just spread out between 5 times as many people.

So do we just radically decrease the number going to uni, or make them pay a little bit directly towards it. Remember its not as if the BBers weren't taxed at all, they have been.

And its very selfish to critise them for the amount of debt they are leaving us, when the only option is for someone else to pay it (and make it worse). This is the epitomy of selfishness.
No they didnt, the amount of debt was small compared to this, they were given everything on the plate, and we now have to pay for it. They were just plain greedy, and they raped their future offspring to get what they have now. We will never have half of what they had, we would have to pay triple tax on what we earn for nothing in return.

Thanks to their parents, not them.

One day too many. And the baby boomers are the biggest readers of said neo-con drivel.

Wrong. Humans have quite a number of rights.

Free? Hardly. Just money and effort to be repaid at a later date.

In what part of your thought process, did 'I should have the same opportunity they got', become 'I want more than they got! I'm entitled damnit!'?

Again, here's where the baby boomer hypocracy comes in, that has clearly escaped you entirely (I'm wondering if you're one, actually), they got all it all from the public purse, paid for by their parents, when it came time for their generation to pay for the future of my generation, they threw us under a bus, plundered everything they could for their own personal profit, left the finances a complete disaster, and left us having to clean up their mess, AND pay for their retirement.

Again. Screw that! Free-riding selfish pricks.
iam with you on this all the way, baby boomers dont want to pay it back, they only know how to take.

Indeed. They were also the generation which rammed up the barriers to employment, as well as making education more inaccessible. And then they go moaning about dole loafers.

Perhaps it would help if people were not so ready to take on pointless debts nowadays to fund lifestyles they cannot afford. People need to be much more responsible with their money and a lot of this financial crisis was because people were not repsonsible in their spending habits. On top of this they are blaming others but not themselves for getting themselves into debt.

The future generations will have to suffer the consequences of people's financial irresponsibility in the last 20 years.

This debt is self-perpetuating. To the degree that our current economic systems (established by the baby boomers) *require* debt for money to exist.

It is still no excuse for people not to be financially responsible. Perhaps,it is time we teach financial responsibility at schools and make it compulsory.

For instance, during the 1980s we had one housing market crash - so how come barely twenty years later we had a similar thing happen but on a larger scale?

Maybe its because of the slow erosion of benefits, such as a job for life, company pensions etc.. that forced most to borrow.

Possibly, and yet it's possible to live, and live well without debt. I'm a GenX, with a GBP40,000 education and no debt. But I Worked while studying for my degree, and saved enough money doing it to pay for my vocational training. Things were hard. Painfully so, for many years. But now I'm in a decent job and saving to buy an airplane. Again, without financing.

The probably as I see it is that GenXers, and even more so Gen Y's grew up with so much provided for them that then have an entitlement complex. They want things now and don't want to have to pay for them.

Kids these days.... No work ethic.

I agree with you in cases where people have to borrow just so they can survive,ie, food, heating and basic clothes for example.

However,is survival meaning spending £50 a month on a mobile contract and a flashy phone for two years and getting designer clothes you cannot afford and get this all on credit??

Is survival going out and spending all your money getting drunk and then having to borrow to pay the rent??

Is survival spending a thousands of pounds on a credit card getting a 40" plasma and getting a new computer every year??

I agree. It is better to save up for something and then buy it than get it on credit IMHO. Also, in many cases one has to ask the question - do I really need to buy this item (if you cannot afford it easily)?

I never meant live by our needs. I meant live within our means. Big difference.

Most of the world however is in the former situation and yet those people still survive and still find happiness. I have lived in a third world country myself and we have a much higher standard of living.

There are so many things we take for granted here which most people in the world would only dream off such as free healthcare, free schooling and financial support for the unemployed.

It's rather difficult to be financially responsible, when our leaders borrow to broke, tax the crap out of you, and we're being bombarded with social and commercial nonsense that you need X, Y, and Z to be 'normal', with nothing to pay for it because you got screwed by your parents generation.

Because the social and economic systems which are forced upon us are fundamentally broken, and only serve to make the wealthy richer.
