Why don't you drive just out of zone 1 park up locally and jump on the tube/bus?

Congestion charge: I believe tomorrow is free as it's a bank hol.

No idea about parking though. This might help although I've not looked in detail.

Re: Time to hit the shopping spree in oxford street!

Yellow lines do apply on Bank Holidays yes, unless otherwise stated on the sign.

    See http://www.parkingticket.co.uk/em.html

    Specifically:

Do waiting restrictions (yellow lines) apply on Bank Holidays?

There is a motoring myth that Bank Holidays are the same as Sundays and that waiting restrictions do not apply. If the sign says 'Mondays - Saturdays' then that includes Bank Holiday Mondays. For Bank Holidays to be exempt the sign would also have to include 'Except Bank Holidays'

yup sounds like im all good to go then.

    edit: maybe not.

Can single yellow lines apply after 6.30pm or on Sundays?

Yes! Single yellow lines can apply for anything between one and 23 hours per day and also on Sundays. Double yellow lines always mean 'at any time' and the need to have an accompanying sign was dropped in April 2003. Single yellow lines now apply for any restriction that is less than 'at any time' and it is essential that you check the signs. If the sign does not mention days of operation it means that the restriction applies seven days a week.
    but then i found this:

    http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corpo...ng_changes.htm

Changes to parking controls in the City of London

On 15 June 2009 the City of London Corporation will make changes to the parking controls in the City, as detailed below. These changes are being made:

    * to improve the flow of traffic in the City, particularly for buses, taxis and emergency service vehicles;
    * to provide more opportunities for those servicing the City and loading or unloading goods from the street to do so legally; and
    * to provide longer periods for visitors to the City to park legally.

    Effects of the changes:

    1. A single controlled parking zone will cover the whole of the City. It will operate between 7am and 7pm from Monday to Friday and between 7am and 11am on Saturday. All single yellow lines in the City will operate at these times, with no extended periods. This will make it much easier for motorists to ensure that they are parking legally. Double yellow lines will, however, continue to prohibit waiting in their location at any time.

QFT why the hell are you trying to park in central London!? It's going to be mayhem. Just get the tube/bus like a sane person!

In any case, it sounds like the legislation you dug up still stops you from parking there (between 7-7). You're good for the congestion charge though, so it may be worth scouting for a place down a backstreet.

Also http://www.westminster.gov.uk/servic.../bankholidays/ what you're looking for?

im not gunna park right next to oxford street. going to park near it. 10-15min walk away from it. From the link you provided, it should be fine to park in a single yellow line.
