    Dont you just hate...

... it when you have ordered some new kit, and you have to RMA something cos it wont work the first time you put it in.

My 9800 Pro arrived stuck it in my shuttle. Lots of lovley colours and blocks on the screen when you switch the thing on. Grr. RMA back to Scan, said they'd come and pick it up, now that surprised me ...

Ahh well, making do with a P4 3.2 GHz with a Geforce 4 Ti 4600 for the time being ...

Built my first PC about 1 1/2years ago. It didnt go well, you are lucky RMA'ing only one thing.

    SETUP:
ABIT KX7-333R, 256mb pc2700, 40gb maxtor, xp1800, aria case+psu, gainward ti4200 (got a couple months later after first round of RMA's), Evergreen (or something) CD-RW.

[September 2002] Got the computer all put together, didnt work so...RMA'd the RAM to aria, who said it was faulty and sent another one. Stuck it in, still didnt work, concluded the mobo was knackered RMA'd to ebuyer, got one back that had the manual scribbled in by a child, got a refund.

    [November 2002] Ordered a gainward ti4200 from Komplett, arrived as a MX420, RMA'd back, got a ti4200.

[January 2003] Ordered an Abit NF7-S (v1.0) from aria, arrived good a proper. RMA'd it in August 2003 though as a BIOS crashed, so i had to reset and it didnt power back up. Got an ABIT NF7-S (V2.0)

[Decemeber 2003] RMA'd my gainward ti4200 to gainward becuase of the pink/blue screen thingy. Got a Gainward ti4200 Golden sample back.

[March 2003] RMA'd my 40gb maxtor as it had some bad sectors/general knackerage, and got a 60gb back from maxtor.

Oh yeah, and the CD-RW broke somewhere along the line, so i sold it.
The only thing i havent RMA'd is the Case+psu, and xp1800 (both of which my brother is using.)

    System i would have had/what i have:
    ABIT KX7-333R | ABIT NF7-S (v2.0) (thanks to RMA)
    XP1800 | XP1700 (brought for £35 on forums.)
    256mb pc2700 | 256mb pc2700 (brought for £50 on forums)
Gainward ti4200 | Gainward ti4200 golden sample (thanks to RMA - more clockable)
40gb maxtor | 60gb maxtor (thanks to RMA)
    Steel case | Lian-li PC60 (brought new)
    300watt generic | 450watt Levicom (brought new)
    CD-RW | Asus 52x CD-ROM

So i have been able to upgrade my system a fair bit thanks to RMA's. So generally a good experience, although the waiting is frustating.
    | XP1600-m | ASUS AN78X Deluxe | r9700 pro | 2x512mb pc37000 |

Had to RMA my Abit IC7-G and as I work away during the week I could only troubleshoot it and build at the weekend. Knackered 4 pin ATX connection. Also had to RMA the RAM as it had an incompatability issue with the mobo. Took weeks to finally get the thing built. Works just fine now and I'm cured of buying off the shelf PCs. Too many proprietory parts.

Next step is a home network for the family with a combination hardwired and wireless network with a hardware firewall out to the outside world. Wonder how many RMAs I'll have to go through with that?

heh, seem you have had quite a few RMA's then blockers

I'm more fortunate... all things that have broken for me (exept an A7N8X DLX 1.04 that got the BIOS crashed) I've broken all by myself... no way they would let me RMA those poor things
