Right, to cut a long story short, my wife is having all her female friends round to our house for a girly party and so I've been asked to make myself scarce. So I arranged to go round to my best mate's flat for one of our usual evenings of beer, smokes, and chat. Unfortunately he's just blown me out.
I can't go round my mum's, because....we live with my mum. My brother's just got back from a week in Africa with work and will most likely be wanting to spend time with his pregnant wife. And sadly I don't really have any other close friends IRL.
I don't particularly fancy the cinema on my own on a Saturday night. Nor do I fancy drinking in a pub on my own. I'm not a member of a gym, and anyway I worked out yesterday and am recovering today. Museums/libraries etc. will mostly be closed on a Saturday Night.
So I'm stumped, basically. I've only come up with three not particularly attractive ideas, or some combination of the two. Firstly, grab my camera and tripod and go and take some night shots somewhere interesting like Central London or Docklands, maybe try a bit of HDR processing on them when I'm allowed back in the house. But it's cold, a bit rainy looking still, and it'll be dark, so no colour in the sky. And I'm possibly going to be a target for muggers or drunks carrying a tripod and camera bag about. I can handle myself, but I'd rather not have to.
I could jump in my little hot hatch and burn some petrol for the hell of it. But while this would be a great plan on a sunny summer weekday, a cold wet Saturday night in Feb isn't going to result in much classic b-road action as far as I can see.
I could resume my old hobby of bin raiding, but again, not a nice night for it, and I'm trying to get rid of my old crap, not accumulate more.
So as you can see I'm staring down the barrel of a pretty poor evening, and I urgently need suggestions. I have a small quick car, and a large slow one at my disposal. I get free travel on buses, tubes, trams and DLR in London. I'm not short of money now I live rent free, so I'm happy enough to spend out a bit for a decent evening's entertainment.
Suggestions gratefully received. Or if any London based hexites fancy an impromptu hexus.social then I'll shout the first couple of rounds....
