If I can bring a single, brief period of light and happiness, into the otherwise dark, damp and smog smothered life of a single Geordie, then I have done well.

I see it as my version of a crippled child swimming with the Dolphins; As a Geordie, your disabilities do not prevent you from free movement, but they are no less crippling and difficult to overcome.

If by this simple, tragic story, I can bring a brief Oasis of pleasure into the acrid Desert of your existence, then I have succeeded in my aim.
