    LulzSec 'takes down' CIA website

    LulzSec 'takes down' CIA website

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13787229

    I'm just waiting for tomorrow's headline;

    CIA 'takes down' LulzSec

CIA spokesman stated 'Websites are for children. Time to grow up.' He later added 'bitch'.

The Pentagon was recently asked how many outside contractor companies they employed. They responded 'Somewhere between 2 and 10 million'. Honestly, do you want to screw with agencies who can't tell you - to the nearest million - how many 'specialist' contractors they employ?

Particularly when the specialism isn't necessary in computer skillz and perhaps a bit more deadly in nature...

Interesting links on the Daily Tech. LulSec claimng to have infected 4Chan members as bots for the DDoS attacks.

Re: LulzSec 'takes down' CIA website

Just seen the list of compromised accounts and passwords, made sure mine wasn't on the list then told everyone to check it and change their details if compromised

Shocking how many people have password/password123 as their proper password, I don't even use that on a test account

Apparently he was just running an irc server that they used. Would not surprise me in the slightest if that proved true.

Still not charged*, which makes me lean towards "Him there, yes, the nerdy one in glasses...he'll do grabbim!"

Edit: The cynical part of me can't help but wonder if this is all setting the stage to push through some mental legislation regarding the internet.

Re: LulzSec 'takes down' CIA website

Would it not have been better to quietly take over the chat room? They would have been one hop closer to tracking them down. Using that front they could have offered them additional services, such as an ftp site, to get which might have yielded more information.

Re: LulzSec 'takes down' CIA website

Actually I've just realised the time and there's no reports of charge or release...anyone know what's going on? Been 34 hours since he was lifted now.

I think the "intelligent" thing to do is not a knee jerk pinch of one [alleged] member of a group, particularly when said group is almost certainly decentralised and possible not known to each other in 'real' terms.

I'm betting.....a bitcoin () on release, no charge.

They were probably more interested in the computer records than the person. If they've got every record cloned then they can probably release him as and when they need to (and ideally before the US want to extradite over something or other).

Re: LulzSec 'takes down' CIA website

They're already over 24 hours though, don't they need a decent reason to keep him after that? Or at least something. Doesn't take that long to clone a HD.

Suspect we may see him charged for refusing to give keys but again, I would have expected that sooner.

It's all a bit weird, I'm still leaning towards the shooting of the proverbial messenger.
