The better off American citizens - don't spend our taxes on healthcare!!
If you do we become more like the evil socialist/communist scum!!

At least they didn't bring in the death penalty for being ill while in jail..
Actually a reasonable choice. Scarily.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
It is something I always joked about if I was homeless - get yourself to the jail. Odd way to "reboot" your life, but potentially a viable option for some.
In fairness that isn't the thinking of most of them.
A lot are simply saying government shouldn't be meddling, and when you look at the inefficiencies of ours you have to admit they might be on to something.
The thing that always puzzels me, is how come they are so happy to be taxed so much only to spend it on silly things from helping prop up the likes of Israil (which costs billions), why pay so much tax for so little in return?

The USA's massive and apparently unconditional support for Israel is probably mostly down to the pro-Israeli lobby there, AIPAC.The thing that always puzzels me, is how come they are so happy to be taxed so much only to spend it on silly things from helping prop up the likes of Israil (which costs billions), why pay so much tax for so little in return?
Although, as I understand it, Americans still pay a lot less in tax than most Europeans do, including us. That's thanks to the lack of public benefits/services, as noted in this thread.
The state of the healthcare system in the USA just leaves me speechless.
Industrial espionage is simply the sincerest form of flattery......
TBH,the socialist/communist comment has also be mentioned quite a bit too. Also, private companies don't necessarily do things for the benefit of the consumer especially if a cartel is involved.
Surely, making the poorer sections of population who cannot afford healthcare ATM have decent health is good for the economy?? It means that they will be more productive and since the reforms were geared towards poorer people eventually it means more would be able to afford private healthcare??

The US government spends far more per citizen, on average, than any other country. That's not how much people pay via their health insurance, that's what the government pays. About 4x more per capita than the UK government spends on the NHS - in exchange for almost nothing for individual citizens

On top of this people also spend loads money on the private healthcare cartel too.
It seems healthcare is a very profitable industry in the US!!
The healthcare budget is around 2.64 trillion dollars in the last year or so for 308 million people:

The NHS budget is around £104 billion pounds(around 167 billion dollars) for 62 million people:

It looks like the NHS is a paragon of efficiency when compared to the US healthcare system.
Just to drag this bad boy back on topic:
That guy that robbed a bank because he needed healthcare? The bank he robbed was about 5 miles away from a free health clinic

'free care' meaning what though? Young people can get free condoms at family planning clinics, and that qualifies as 'free care'. Having protrusions surgically removed, and treating arthritis and CTS is another matter entirely. Arthritis especially is a long term medical problem. Is this guy seriously suggesting that hospitals will take on long term patients as a freebee?
If you believe that, I have a small island for sale.
