    Parking across peoples driveways rant

Why oh why do people do this. I got up this morning expecting to jump in my car at 7:45 and go to work. But no the neighbours have decided to park right across my drive so I can't get my car out. 10 minutes of banging on their door proved useless. Needless to say I was late and ever so slightly pissed off.

Apparantly they thought it was ok since noone is up and about that early on a sunday and they thought I deffinatly wouldn't be. The major flaw there being the fact that I start work every sunday at 8 and have done for months ( )

Is there anything I can do if (read as 'when') they do this again. I'm already after their phone number, means waking them up will be easier. To say I'm piseed off about this is a major understatement!

    /end rant

My road and therefore my house is the only road that connects a primary and nursery school together, so every morining we get the all the mums driving their jeeps with carseats in the back and parking (badly) all over the road and over every driveway so they don't have to carry their screaming kids far to school. Its so damn annoying. I don't actually drive so i bike everywhere but you know its gone too far when i had to climb over my front wall with my bike just so i could get out my own house and get to college. It takes the provebial.

All you can do is call the police (Not 999, a local number) and they can send someone down to put a ticket on it.

You can get signs that you stick on your walls/gate which state that parking across your drive will result in a ticket or whatever can't you? That's pathetic tbh, no consideration at all. My neighbour is always having visitors, often almost ten cars' worth. But they all park up the road. Almost half way up the road. Lol. Never blocking driveways.

If you have a drop curb the police/local authority (whoever does your parking fines) can deal with this issue. I think (IIRC) this also counts if you have road markings painted -single white line/ double yellows, etc. Unfortunately, I would guess that neither will be bothered as they have not the manpower to stake-out your property, they would sooner sting unwhitting miscreants on the 'main street' to claim their bonus!

You should have a MASSIVE argument with the neighbours to make sure it never happens again.
If it does punt a football at the side of the car, repeat until anger subsided.

Nick/buy some street cones and leave them next to the curb just outside your drive. Have seen a few people do that. It might help.

Yeah i have a drop curb the lot. They say they arn't gonna do it again, now why don't I believe that. If they do I'll try calling the police, even if they can't get the car moved it'll give the neighbours a kick up the rear.

That is actually illegal in itself. plus it would meanmore hassle whenever you move the cars. We keep two onour diveway so that's a lot of hassle

You could park your own car at the top of your drive. I know you shouldn't have to but its a practical solution.

Thats really bad! The cheek of some people
I often have people park in one of my two parking spaces outside my house and that winds me up a treat. I think MAYBE they don't realise that they are private but still, someone used to park across BOTH spaces. Grrr... Inconsiderate people make me mad

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

Send them a bouquet of flowers, along with it enclose a note to the lines of "Park in front of my driveway again, your next of kins will be receiving these flowers! Lots of Love, Stubzz, you're friendly loving neighbour".

Not really doable as we have two cars on the drive, and my dads on the road to the right. Putting one across would mean the other couldn't get out.

Because of the road I live on, leaving any cars off the driveway is a bad idea. People just speed down it at whatever speed they wanna do. In the last 3 months my daads car has had his drivers side mirror smashed twice

My dad's work have obtained some cones from somewhere and have to block off half the road whenever they take a delivery of cars... The high street in Twickenham/Whitton is that tightly packed!
