Erm, well yes, the flags will be taken down because the tournament will be over. What's your point?

To be honest, it seems a lot of you don't understand or aren't excited by football, so, feeling a little left out, you have a go at people who do understand it or are excited.

I don't have a flag on my car; but then, I don't have a car. I'll have a flag hanging out my window though... just like I did on St. George's Day and the D-Day Remembrance day.

    Am I in the wrong?

    As I said, I don't have one, because I don't have a car.

As I made clear in my previous post, I am proud of my country all the time, that was sort of the point.

If your point is that Chav muppets, who don't give a toss about England on St George's Day or other occasions now think they are Mr England by putting a £1 flag on their car, look a bit stupid, then I agree.

Lumping anyone who gets into the spirit of Euro 2004 in together with these people though, is somehing different completly.

It's number two on my list that I really don't understand

Theres a guy round the corner from where I live that has a flag pole in his garden and runs up the union jack every day. And I respect that - he's proud of his country 365 days a year.

I don't respect the chav I saw in Whitley the other day in Keved Fiesta with the real & side windows covered with cut out flags from the Sun... Patriotism one thing - danger on the roads another.

Don't get me wrong - I'm very happy to be British - but I'm not just proud during football competitions.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

You go ahead, if it makes you happy; I just wish that you could enjoy your favourite (I assume) sport without things being messed about for the rest of us, who, as you say, aren't excited by football.

Whilst I am not in the slightest bit interested in Euro 2004 and Football, I do think that slating the people that are, and put flags up, etc, is a bit small-minded :|

Rhythmic has pretty much covered everything, for me, in his post.

    -edit

I forgot to say that I will be watching quite a lot of Euro 2004. I enjoy watching the football, and enjoy discussing the various events of a large tournament (or the season leagues) with friends/family.

I shan't be that fussed about how well we do at Euro 2004, we've already won the most important Cup.

This thread is bordering on being dumped. It was started as a way of finding out if there were people on the forum who weren't interested in Euro 2004 and has started to deteriorate into a slagging match.

I suggest that everyone who has posted on this thread proof read everything they decide to post in the future to avoid any repercussions. Get it back on track please.

In short, this thread is for those of you not interested in Euro 2004 to talk about whatever you like. It is not, however, a place to slag off those who are interested in it, moan about people putting flags on cars, call them 'retards', and everything else that goes with it.

Az was just jumping the gun to prevent it going down that road. I was guilty of starting it down that road myself.

Right, now I'm off to discuss the footy.

I definately dont understand the football hype - certainly not how widespread & popular it is. I do watch a few games, and I enjoy an entertaining game or a good goal, but win or lose, it's gonna make f-all difference to life. I can understand if maybe the outcome of losing was for the entire country to be incinerated & left to burn to ashes, but it's not like that.

But really, I just dont get it. it's as if all hope and glory is defined by how well their team does (yes I realise my country gets spectacularly humped everytime), it just dictates certain peoples lifes (not everyone, but it plays a big part!) - why?

I'd really like to know, and Im not trying to wrangle any nerves or wind anyone -anyone wanna try explaining what is so good about football?
