A good pace is just what scotty said, unless you want to go to the olympics then they might just have more stringent guidelines. No political correctness there, just a Darwinian excercise in survival of the fittest.

But a 6 1/2 minute mile equates to just over 9 miles an hour. Understand that on the road you will go slower than the treadmill as you don't have the motion of the mill to assist you. So say.... 7 1/2 minutes a mile? You still won't be running after 1 hour 40. So there you have it. 1 hour and 40 minutes of excercise and you are done for the day

Unless they put a hill in the route that would give Sherpa Tensing heart failure but we file that eventuality under 'X factor'

Heh, i know the route exactly. It's all flat, no hills whatsoever.

I'll attempt a road run sometime this week.

It's nice running in the heat. It's a lot lot worse in the cold. Cold air gets to the lungs :/

Running in the hot is fine. Just dont push yourself too much and always carry a drink. Had problems with getting dehydrated after doing 17 miles without a drink.

Lucky you didn't end up in hospital. Dehydration and heat injuries such as heatstroke can be killers if not treated properly. Seen the effects of heat enough times. Constant, small drinks from the start are more effective than guzzling pints when you get thirsty. If it's going to be hot then you may want to consider a camel back so you can carry water comfortably and take drinks through a hose as you run.
