I kid you not, it all ends very badly.

Absolutely deserves that beating he got tbh. If you're willing to wave a chainsaw within inches of people's faces, you better be ready to get your head stoved in.
Good on the people from that pub tbh.
Glad that didn't turn out like certain horror movies do. Still, since it's the UK, I wonder if he's going to sue since asshats like that still have rights.

I have mixed views about this. On one hand, once he was disarmed he should have been left for the police. No-one has the right to act like a vigilante, especially a mob of 10-15 people with weapons against a man who was already on the floor and disarmed.
However, on the other hand, he only received a 3 year sentence (although in my opinion he should have been sent to the loony bin).
What a great country we live in. People who will use whatever excuse they can to have a fight, and judges who give out almost criminal sentences.

If a guy comes at you with a chainsaw and doesn't do serious damage your natural instinct is immediately going to be to bludgeon him to death or run. Since you're essentially trapped in a pub its probably going to be the former. I can't imagine I'd have the self restraint to just disarm him if the situation arose and I hadn't legged it!
In a perfect world, I'd say you're right, he should've been left to the police, but, answer me this...
If you were in there with a girlfriend or possibly even your wife and someone waved a chainsaw in her face, would you have any mercy for the guy at all? I bloody well wouldn't! I'd want his guts for garters, if the truth be told.
The beating that he received should be thought of as part of his punishment. I've been battered in the past for silly things that I've done and it definitely made me think about my actions, and, if I'm honest, I've done the same to others in my younger days. Fighting is almost an instinct to certain people, and I feel as though I'm included in that group.
Please do not assume to know what kind of person I am as I would NEVER attack someone as part of a group if they were already down, it's cowardly. I am not defending the guy, just saying that it was unreasonable force.
As I said, "No-one has the right to act like a vigilante, especially a mob of 10-15 people with weapons against a man who was already on the floor and disarmed". He was knocked down by the guy with the barrel at 0:57, he should have been held from that point until the police arrived. But no, a group of yobs ran out of the pub and pounced on him with chairs and all sorts until the end of the video at 1:18. Are you saying that 21 seconds (at least) of assault from a large group of people on a single person who has already been knocked to the floor is an acceptable response?
Pretty much: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_urWSSZgwU
Good beer barrel usage. Went Donkey Kong on that mother......
I'm not sure it was acceptable, but I do have to say if someone threatens you and your loved ones, even with a weapon you don't ease up on them.
You put them down and make sure they stay down. (They should have restrained him though but pub + booze = anger they were fueled up)
What's to say he took a licking and they thought oh he's down lets leave him be.
Then he gets up and knifes someone in the leg? Yes I'm being cynical. He deserves what he got. Go looking for trouble you'll expect to find it.
