NO, I SIMPLY DON'T EARN ENOUGH MONEY
I AM RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF EARNING ENOUGH
YES I EARN ENOUGH OR MORE
That's actually a price for cheap steel cased .223.
Typically I like 5.56 M193 FMJ for practical shooting, or more expensive 75gr BTHP for bench shooting.
9mm I shoot mainly the cheapest 9mm FMJ on sale at Walmart, and carry Speer JHP +P. I'll shoot a mag of the carry rounds every time I go to the range just to rotate it.
I'm in an awkward situation so my vote is probably not all that useful to gather a feeling of the times we are in. Recently Immigrated to the UK, part of the conditions of my entry was to be dependant on my parents(came in as a minor and got the ancestral visa 4 days before my 18th). This has made my job options part time only which I managed with for a while until being made redundant in March 2012, during none of my time here have I been able to earn enough to live on but if I had I would of been kicked out the country... Now that I have Indefinite Leave to Remain I am going to University to pursue my ambitions so only 4 years from now would I be in a position to start earning enough although I doubt I'll move out of my parents place within a year of graduation, if I achieve that.
I have a house, my first child on the way (within 4 weeks.....maybe, they come along when they feel like it , I suppose)and a cat, myself and my fiancee both work, we pay our bills and we have little in the way of spare cash to save,
We can always stop some of the luxury items in the weekly shop to pay for the little one's needs and this time next year my not so good 5yr fixed deal is up and as long as I stay on this rate, I will get the banks base rate tracker rate which should bring my mortgage payments down by around £300-£400 a month then, I can have a serious dig at the overpayment allowance on it.
Not working because of back injury but when I did work I was very comfortable in 1 job, working for Unilever (ridiculous pay for doing bugger all, dunno how they are currently planning on going on strike!) and had a lot of spare cash.
But after that ended (was a temp) and went to work a "normal" job (ie. £7/h) it was really hard to adjust, was literally half the pay I was on before.
But then I broke my back in work and can't work for 3 years, so now am on disability...so I definitely don't earn enough now haha.

Well I only earn (non qualified rates) when I teach (proper IT at a local college i.e. networking, hardware and software, I introduced Linux this year ) so last month, with the two week Easter break I only managed 12hrs, basically 6hrs a week (averages 24hrs a month). Thankfully I still live with my parents, not ideal but the simple fact is even when I pull in some freelance graphic design and PC repair work (both of which are few and far between) there's simply no way I could afford to keep my own place. Give me a chance and I'd leave these fair shores for other climbs (enough saved to afford such a move), ah the chance for a full time job... I'd rip the proffering arm off at the shoulder blade.
ladies and gents... thank you all for your candid, and well thought out answers
pls keep them coming, because it's good to share stuff online with people who are supportive but who you may never meet,
some of those posts are quite heartfelt I reckon.

Until you've lost your job and been on the bread line, you don't know how good you had it in many cases

I would say if necessary I could survive on £16k income based on my location (Sheffield). That wouldn't be a comfortable lifestyle, but it would doable if you were financially prudent. Fortunately I earn more than that, but I'm still below the average national wage (thanks to a pay freeze since 2008), I'm hoping this is going to be rectified this July - but there's no guarantee to say the least.
I'm not a big spender, I've no cash sucking vices, I shop mainly at the lower end of clothing outlets (H&M / Matalan / Debenhams if I'm feeling plush), my car is 6 years old and I won't be replacing it in the foreseeable future, my PC is 4 years old and is my one luxury so I'm hoping to upgrade that this year.
My home is slightly below average value for Sheffield (£125k at an estimate). I'm soon to be married and fortunate that my better half pays her own way. We're comfortable and I'm not greedy. Money is not everything, we have all 4 parents alive and healthy, all on speaking terms, we're still in a good relationship after 6 years, I love my home and garden and work isn't too stressful...I'm content with the amount of money we have. Yet I imagine there's many more people who would consider our position relatively poor.
I voted that I just earn enough to be happy and content.

I myself, found myself moving back into la parentals after splitting with my ex last year as there was no way I could afford a place of my own. I went a bit crazy with spending and found myself spending alot of time and workarounds to rectify it.
I am now in a FAR better position than I was last Sept/Oct, I don't have any luxuries that I participate week in week out. I have all I need, my family for starters.
I mainly play golf now which I had not long ago forked out £65 for a 2nd hand set, I'll play on courses which is local to me and tbh it costs buttons for 18 holes but theres other times I play and the ticket office is closed.
I currently drive a Fiesta ST [Owned it for 3/4 years now] which bleeds my wallet dry, but that is through nobodys fault but my own, that is something I have now cut back on is the amount I am spending on petrol.
I work F/T for Local Government and currently on a pay freeze until next year, but in the meantime I'm biding my time till I get the opportunity to apply for a Senior post that I know that I can progress in.
I find myself in the position that I am in mainly down to the fact of the support that my parents provided me with; if it hadn't been for them... I'd been up s*** creek without a paddle.
No one would actually say they earn too much or enough... I wouldn't say I earn too much... put it his way, the rich is getting richer and vice versa...
I'm not doing too bad, with a job a really enjoy - but having a family is a fairly expensive habit going to take a few months to pay off the wedding , then start saving for a deposit. I can afford to pay a mortgage , just not the 45-50k I need to put down to actually get somewhere
