That sounds like the life to me
NO, I SIMPLY DON'T EARN ENOUGH MONEY
I AM RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF EARNING ENOUGH
YES I EARN ENOUGH OR MORE
That sounds like the life to me

I think that everbody on the Earth would like to earn more. Anyone who has enough wants even more and doesnt realise that he actually doesnt need more anymore :-) Difficult to say where the limit is.... I would like to earn more, definitely
Possibly - "like" is a very soft word in that sense. I'd "like" someone to pay me vast amounts of money to sit on my rear doing nothing, but it ain't gonna happen And that's also not really what this thread is about: it's about whether what you earn is actually "enough" - i.e. can you live comfortably on your current earnings.
Plus, whilst it's probably true that I'd "like" to earn more, I certainly wouldn't choose a better paid but less interesting job over a worst paid but interesting job that paid "enough". And my recent experiences have demonstrated just how little can actually be enough if you're sensible with your lifestyle
But Zakk, I think that part of it is due to your T&C which forces a fairly humble expectation. It is no real surprise to me that most people with the time and inclination to participate in this forum do not have to worry about the next meal, or losing the roof over their head or utilities at no times notice, which looking at the replies, is where many have drawn the line for "enough" after your enough post. Most people probably have some life ambitions, which need not even be that extravagant to cost more than just a holiday (which your OP doesn't even allow for).
You said that "We all want more [...]" in the opening post. It's as much of a generalisation as BerZerk's: both statement are linked and will falls to exceptions, but for every want, there is a need to earn more.
Also, in my opinion, someone who is "on the edge of earning enough" can't have that much saving each month, and therefore limited sense of security should they lose their job.. so not quite enough. I am quite curious as to whether the results might not have been similar had the "middle option" been "I am just shy of earning enough".
I know the poll is limited... I'm sorry but I couldn't think of a better three choices.. and more would be wrong.

Buying a house is a luxury. Renting a single room in a shared house, or living with parents when possible meets the definition of 'enough' in this context. Enough to survive, rather than enough to prosper.
I would've have preferred a middle choice that was truly in the middle, or two middle options (on leaning each way), or no middle option at all. I do like the fact that this thread is not about what one think one "deserve". But if it is down to just survival as TeePee has interpreted it, I can not imagine that many posters on Hexus are on the brim of becoming homeless.
To me, survival is *not* enough. Yes, I can only say that because I am not struggling for survival. And I have little doubt that those earning far more than me would not be content living how I live, in the same way that I would not really want to go back to my student ways.
It's good to be realistic and be able to find contentment with what one has. But I wonder how many of those who have picked the first two options would be content if their income only increases at inflation rate. I am sure there are, but I wonder if it's really 2/3rd of those who have taken that poll (if it is, then well done to you all ).
Wow only 100 voters, and it is neck to neck with yes or no... hmmm, so many rich Hexus members here...
I don't know about rich. I voted that I earned just enough. My income is <£5000 p/a currently(in fairness this was closer to 10 until recently and probably will be again by the end of summer). Which is pretty grim tbh, but I have food in my belly(and my dogs belly), a roof over my head, clothes on my back and even have enough left over for a luxury(interwebs), which is plenty IMHO. Though of course, I'd love a car, a mobile and an occasional beer.
What we really need is a polling option which forces people (and yes, I mean me, though my bet is I'm not the only one) to indicate they've
read the damn post before voting. Though, if such an option existed, it wouldn't prevent people from clicking it without reading.
And yes, I didn't read it all before voting. My bad.
But it does make me doubt how much conclusion can be drawn from the poll results when the conditions are so specific.
^ Indeed, and I think that people have been interpreting the conditions differently. I do not believe that over 1/3rd of those who have replied are struggling for their next meal, but I also not convinced an equal proportion would be just as happy not getting another payrise beyond inflation rate, even if their personal situation do not change (e.g. in the case of singles, getting married and starts a family). To me earning enough implies a sort of "end game". Meeting a goal I've set for myself. I am realistic enough to know that I can't have it all, but greedy/ambitious enough not to settle for / be content with mere survival.
