Emile Heskey (!) and some good players, like Gronkjaer.

Maniche is good but in my opinion Vieria is a big step up. When Vieria plays its like theres a real presence on the field...I cant see any other midfielders (excluding Roy Keane a few years ago) filling a role in such a way. Maniche is easily capable of doing a good job, but a Vieria he will never be....

Dont rate Gerrard, and his Euro 2004 proved my opinion of him to be correct....So definately wouldnt even want to consider him at highbury..

Just really hope Vieria doesnt go

All i can say is - I''m gonna miss the Premiership

I support Leeds by the way - I know! (before you say anything)

Not a die hard fan, don't really go to the games or anything but i have had to watch them go from a half decent side to bad and now downright awful and watch all the main players go.

Just hope we don't embarrase ourselves further in Division 1
So no i'm not really looking forward to the new season

Add that to the neucleus of players they had already and its looks like its a brucey bonus this season

cheers for linkage Wildmonkey. Looks like Brum might be pushing for Europe this season if all goes well. Gronkjaer is a great signing.

If Hesky can actually get some form and score 15+ goals this season things should be good for ya.

When I started this thread, I started it for real football fans to discuss the new season, not a bunch of glory hunting Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool fans, who all live in Telford, to bang on about the season when those sort of fans are the laughing stock of football anyway.

So, for the rest of us - the fans who support our team because we love them, not because, they are \ were the team winning the league every year, let the discussion commence.

Flame bait, or what? Seriously though, all you 'hardcore' Man U and Arsenal fans; where do you live?

Would you support 'your' team if they were mid-table, or trying to avoid relagation?

    Hehe...

**COUGH** check my location under my name. Yeap I live in manchester and actually go to games I've supported the mighty reds since I was 4 and this included the time we got relegated as well

It really annoys me that ALL man u fans get tarnished with the same brush, I mean I go to OT with about 10-25 people from my local area and we always meet at chiquto's for a few bottles before the match.

I know where your coming from tho' mate - nowt worse than going to somewhere "daaaarn sarrrf" only to see a tide of United shirts. I hate that type of non-local armchair supporter.

Okies - I'll get off my soapbox now

Indeed; I didn't mean to tarnish all Man U supporters with the same brush; but we've all seen the little nobs, walking around with Man U shirts, just because the won the Premiership for 94 seasons in a row. Glory hunting little no-marks.

I mean, I'm a 'non-local' supporter, as I live in Birmingham and support Everton. Of course, I get up to Goodison whenever I can, and to be honest, you don't get many glory hunting Everton fans, plus I've supported them for more years than anyone can remember, so I get classed as a proper fan.

When we put Man U to the sword in the '95 FA Cup Final, it was a lot of fun around here I can tell you. Lots of thick, glory hunting Man U fans to annoy.

Of course, they all wear Chelsea or Arsenal shirts now, as they are 'hardcore' fans, and Chelsea have lots of money and Arsenal won the leauge. Now that's what I call real fans...

Vaul - you've missed the Real Madrid shirts as well mate

Now thats a laugh... how the hell can they support a team so many thousands of miles away.... oh wait its could be due to "goldenballs" playing for them.

In this case they are a fan of the player and not the club

Damn sheep the lot of them .... *baaaaaaaaaa*

I had a phone conversation once, with a mate, who mentioned half way through, that he supported Real Madrid, as well as his team in England. This was one year a few years back, and that season Madrid had won the Champions League; I mentioned this, saying you must be well chuffed, and he didn't know they had won it!

I think its safe to say, if you don't notice when your team wins the Champions League, then you're probably not one of the hardcore fans of that club.

woah, chill out, 'real football fans'? get off your high horse...

Sounds to me like you are missing the point of what a fan is. As far as I am concerned its about enjoying watching and supporting a team. I've always supported arsenal. I don't pretend to like them, I just do.

I tried going to some of Newmarket's games but they pretty much sucked. I've been to a few cambridge united games and to be perfectly honest they were a bit dull (no offence like )

    Let's all flame Vaul

    I am a Liverpool fan.

Do I live in Liverpool? - No.

Do I even live in England? - No.

Have I ever been to a Liverpool game? - No.

If I ever get the chance to go to Anfield I will jump at the chance but as I live in Northern Ireland my situation kind of dictates my attendance rating

I am a real fan! I follow my team, watch matches, stick up for them in arguements (not easy recently ) and support the lads on the pitch! Nothern Irish football doesn't exactly live up to much I will tell you that for a fact and jolly old Engerland isn't too far away.

To me one of the worst things you can do is change your footballing alligence. No matter how bad your team becomes, how terrible they have been playing, how many muppets they sign, how many divisions they drop or how many managers they mince though you cannot change your team! It's the ultimate sacrilage!

I have no respect for a glory hunter...

Calm down lads; if you're happy that you are a proper fan, not a glory hunting nob, who supports whichever team happens to be flavour of the month, then fair enough.

Now, I'm off to laugh at some plastic Reds.

    I am a Liverpool fan.
It could have been so beautiful as well mate, but now you've dropped that bombshell, its never going to work.

    You dirty little man...

Well for me and my team (Nottm Forest) I am really looking forward to the coming season. However we seem to be in a bit of a mess since this pre-season trip to USA.

Joe Kinnear has branded it a "farce" and "glad its over" as it was "just a PR trip". I'm afraid that the players are going to be tired before the season begins, hopefully the coaching staff will be able to relieve this somehow.

Kinnear has turned this club around in the months he has been here, I want to see us around the play-offs during the whole season, instead of lurking from mid-table to relegation uncertainty.

Hopefully Joe can get the form out of the team he got from the last 14games of the season, outstanding performance from the whole squad.

    Bring it on.

i only have one team... but i love football and go to a game in every town I visit.

SCOTLAND... not an easy team to follow. But I suppose I am a glory hunting nob ! Since I started going to games during the long and glorious Craig Broooooon era ! Long live the broon one.

To Vaul.. who cares about Rooney ! good player but the clubs finances are more important... plus from my perspective at least wee james mcfadden should get a game through the middle !!

    I'm Scotland til I die... I am Scotlnad til I die.. I know I am I think I am... I am a nob til I Die !

Take it easy.. its the only way.
