Who is going to the Olympics?

Hey all, as the title says, are you goig to the olympics to watch any of the events?

if not then why?

i have added a poll as well.

For me, i am not going. i do like the olympics dont get me wrong and watched them on tv since i was a kid but for some reason i just cant be bothered to purchase any tickets. i do have funds to do so but just cant me asked?

whats wrong with me lol. this is a so called once in a life time thing so why diddnt i buy some lol.

No. Setting aside all the travel hassle crazy expense for a moment; I've utterly no interest in attending.

I'd probably not cross the street to watch it tbh.

Nope, my idea of sport includes an engine and two or four wheels (or three if there's a crash ). Anyway after seeing some of the things going (such as the prices being charge just to hike up that sculpture, which I quite like) the only conclusion I can come to is that every poor soul that goes is going to get their financial eyes gouged out by money grubbing swindlers trying to cash in on anyone wanting to so much as pee (including the event organisers).

during opening ceremony night i am off to see dark knight over in imax greenwitch. shows how much i care about the Olympics i guess lol i just hope i can make it in time as i have to drive down the A12 past the olympic park and they have the olympic lanes in place where some sections of the A12 gets reduced to 1 freaking lane

I actually have to come into London during August and went to great pains to shuffle everything around so I could do it in the second half and miss the Olympics.

After living in Vancouver during Expo86 and knowing people that still lived there during the Vancouver Olympics I know first hand what a mess they can make of day to day life in the host city to the point where it can become near impossible to get anything done.

Maybe the secondary question is - if you are or were going, which event would you most want to see? If it were me I think I'd go for the fencing, the judo or other combat sports, and maybe the 100 Metre sprint. Does anyone know how tickets work anyway? Is it just one day ticket and then you go to see whichever events suit you or are the different tickets for different events?

The closer the olypmics gets, the more horror stories I hear about it re the sponsorship, the prices etc etc. I am however a very keen cyclist and I happen to live in SW London so on Saturday I do really want to see a bit of the road cycling.

I didn't apply for tickets for any other events, as I lack the funds/interest to do so.

EDIT: In response to the secondary question above, if I did apply for tickets, it would have been for track cycling. I'm waiting for squash to be an olympic sport because I'd love to watch that, being an avid squash player...

At the moment the horror stories I've heard about sponsorship etc have really dampened my enthusiasm. Not that I can really afford to go anyway, you will get a better seat sat on your sofa.

I like to play sports, very rarely watch any. Crowds tend to annoy me more than any joy I get out of being in them so that's another reason any Olympic viewing will be confined to my TV at home. TBH I'm more interested in the impact (hopefully for the better) the Olympics will have on the economy and London in general than the actual games.

Would never be interested in attending; however if I ever rec'd a ticket ... 100m sprint for me. Would loveto see Usain Bolt but other than that... meh
