Just moved house, from Nottingham to Derby.

Very nice house this new one, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets with a big garden and study.

One BIG problem.

In the old house we had 512k NTHell cable...this house, we found out to our shock...hasn't got the lines for either NTHell cable or BT Broadband!!!

Its so so so so not nice having to go back in time 4 years to 56k, i hate it already.

/Sigs are now turned off on every forum i go in and i can't just load random web-sites.

Oh yeh........and we are having to run 2 PC's off this connection!!

The only upside is my dad says cos we can't get Broadband he is gonna get the full sky package for both the Study and Living room instead....oh the pain

according to the ntl website, i cant get ntl either, despite me being on 1mbit, got cable tv, and phone with them
Have you checked if you have telewest instead?

Nope nothing

The biggest things i have found i hate so far:

All images take ages to load
Download rates suck big time

...The only plus side is viewing quite heavy text pages like forums i notice very little difference between the speed broadband gave me and this

You thought of seeing if you can get on the testing phase of the Broadband over Powerlines? Was a big deal about it not so long ago, maybe worth a try.

Yeah its tough but thats what we have to put up with nearly everywhere in Ireland

I was looking at getting broadband in my new flat in Cork (which is Irelands 2nd biggest city) and its touch and go if we can get 512k ADSL (with a 4Gb monthly cap ) and there is absolutely no hope of cable or anything like that

And Ireland is meant to be an IT country FFS.
