I fully agree on this one, that some "sports" shops will try and tell you a load of hogwash in order to get you to buy expensive trainers. But if you go to a good running shop, you can get decent advice on the best type of shoe for your particular running gait. The other thing that can cause you problems is the high of your arch, which affects the amount of cushioning you need. I was lucky to have an ex. who's sister was a podiatrist, so got lots of free expert advice
