I got it started with the string, but I don't understand how i'm supposed to move my wrist to keep it going
You pull the string,and rotate the powerball in a circle to gain centrifugal force inside the ball... it's all about the wrist movement!
how come these have suddenly taken off?
I have had mine for years (literraly...)

I have no idea why!! They've been for sale for ages now... I've got the NEXT shop equivalent... not very good though!
I know play.com are selling them at £18 delivered, whereas the official site is doing them at around £30!
Theirs also an alluminium one out now... sells for around £40 on play.com
I believe they've "taken off" because someone posted the link in BH and hexus members can't get enough of useless gadgets at a bargainous price!
Anyone willing to make a video of themselves powerballing as I fear it's the only way I will find out how to keep the damn thing going
Aint got a power ball, but had plently of gyroscopes, which I guess this is.
I would suggest that once it's spinning, you try and draw a circle with your hand (keeping your wrist stationary!), you should feel the gyro effect (resistance to being turned in certain directions) once you've found this, push in that direction(s), getting faster without losing the 'gyro', I would guess this is how it 'spins up'.
