    Re: Please, Stop using DropBox

    owncloud has limitations.

i cant seem to find a way to host files on my server in multiple locations ie i have like 2-3 hdd's on my linux server and wish for hdd 1 to contain my raw files of pictures, hdd2 to contain my movies and hdd3 to contain my music.

Is there a way to set this up under ONE owncloud account instead of creating 3 different owncloud accounts?

Also, can it sync data across mobile devices? Dropbox doesnt seem to do it and only lets you view whats in your dorpbox account and manually download files from it

Generally I use those services mainly to send myself documents from one system to another (e.g. PC to phone), though occasionally I also use it to share photos with selected friends.
The fact that you retain control of your own data, so you can be sure that it's not still floating around a cloud provider's servers after you delete it.

If you want to have a tinker Bitnami do a really simple Windows stack installer which is worth looking into.

The biggest limitation for me is that the Owncloud mobile app has a cost associated.

That's the issue with cloud storage I guess though. These issues can crop up and the business isn't really obliged to do anything about it.
