    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

I have decided to quit with the whole 'stoptober' thing. Same real reasons as already stated by others, I knew I had too and I took the opportunity. I have tried before and managed it for really long times, this time I really need to make it stick for good!
I have gone cold turkey and it does only take a few days to get off the nicotine, the habit is a killer though, especially after a glass of wine or a pint, long car journeys, stressful situations at work... you get the idea. Still struggling with these :-(

I'm looking to go for the e cigs to help me just work through some of the situations, so I'm subscribing to get some advice and see how things go for you too.

    Best of look bud :-)

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

I had a good look on some UK vaping forums, and decided to opt for a Mini Pro Tank starter kit from MyEPack.

It's fairly cheap, and seems to get good reviews, and if all goes well, i'll add to it with a spinner battery to vary the voltage to the atomiser.

It's the habitual side that i am going to struggle with, so hopefully this will make a good alternative while i wean myself off.

I'll post back when i've had a go with it. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions so far, and very best of luck to anybody else who's trying to give up.

Sorry, they went in the bin a long time ago. No logo / brand that I can remember off them and Ebuyer no longer sell them.

I'd just have a look at reviews around the web to find a decent reviews.

Thanks Agent. I was thinking of getting some E-Lites, as they're ready available in supermarkets and convenience shops. This thread, and google, has advised me that it would have been a waste of time though.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Are you in the UK? If so have you considered talking to the NHS about this? The stop smoking clinics I know have helped some friends of mine. A random selection of three were given champrix, this drug stops the enjoyable bits of smoking, but isn't without side effects. So seeing a nurse about it is a good idea. One friend never took the tablets, knowing they could turn to them, instead of a cig, was enough for them to stop without ever taking one (or so she says!). Another took the drugs, had some slight mood swings, but hated smoking from day 2. The third? He never took the tablets, and never quit. Like the story of the person who used the condom on the broom handle (after seeing it demonstrated thus) he appeared to think it would work by magic.

That is just one option that you can have for free on the NHS.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

I did go to an NHS stop smoking clinic yes. No mention was made of Champrix, i have since read a little about it online though.

They gave me an inhalator, which felt really odd to use, as you don't 'pull' on it as such, and there is no feedback with regard to feeling something in your mouth.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

I gave up smoking 4 years ago, took 5 days on Champix

I have been "vaping" for 2 months as I was told I was diabetic and needed to "diet control" my diabetes,

So far, I have lost a stone and I have cut down my beer and gummy intake by about 80%,

I have about 20 different juices and 3 vv/vw mods, 3 pyrex tanks and a bunch of batteries to run it all,

I have been hooked since the first time I tried it, The OH has her favorite juices too, I use no nicotine juice as I am just looking for flavour,

It is a bottomless pit of choice with vaping.

I love it even though I dont have to do it, I want to do it, I have had really nasty juices to juices that make me salivate as the flavour is so intense,

I dont know why people smoke cigarettes when there is such a fascinating and flavourful world of non toxic choice out there

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Went to a hypnotist 8 year ago and never had a cig since.....used to smoke about 40 rollys a day without filters.....i used to buy cigs and baccy from abroad so it never cost me as much as a normal smoker so it wasnt to save money it was for my health.....i remember the hypnotist telling me after 3 days your body doesnt crave nicotine anymore and it's just in your subconscious where the craving comes from.....i also remeber him asking me if sometimes when i take a regular route or journey to and from work do i sometimes get home and think i can't remember certain parts of the journey like main busy roundabouts etc....this is because you are driving on your subconscious because it is just repetitiveness that we all take for granted....and this is where the craving comes from, it is your subconcious craving the action of having a cigarette because it has become part of your life and who you are....tbh he never done any of this "look into my eyes look into my eyes" stuff that you think...here we go this is the hypnotising bit....it was more like auto suggestion and talking common sense.

Best £120 ive ever spent......he also guaranteed for you to quit by saying you can come back as many times as you like if it doesnt work, and he only had 1 guy come back for one more session.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Thought I would contribute to this thread. I started smoking when I was 15, smoked solid for 15 years, then my first child was born. Stopped with the aid of nicotine patches. 5 years later I had a glitch in life and started again, didn't take me long to get back to 20 a day.
I have tried them all over the years, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, inhalers, e-cigs, tabs, and more but my brain hurts to remember them all .
I finally gave up again February 2012 with the help of Zyban. Don’t get me wrong, it's not easy, I used to panic just at the thought of giving something up I really enjoyed. But my head kept telling me after 25 years of on and off smoking, this is crazy and the price of cigarettes are forever increasing, and soon will be £10 a packet. That there was my motivation to stop again, the price of things to come.
Try the e-cigs, don’t pay stupid money for one like I did, all I ended up with was an expensive gadget that I used for 2 months, then finally gave them up back to the real ones because they couldn't satisfy my craving for the real thing.
At some point in your life an opportunity may present itself for you to finally stop, if it does, cease it.
    Good Luck.

I've got an e-cig and a few choice attachments

its not too bad - I've cut back down to around 20 every 4 days at the moment so I'm saving pennies and paying less tax (wahoo!)
