I tried Zyban when I first tried to quit. Stopped taking it a week in though
Was quite intense, I don't know if it was withdrawal symptoms but I suspect the Zyban.. I was completely on edge and moody. I'd snap at anything (I'm not usually like that)
One thing for sure is, it definitely helped me cut down for a while. Got to a point where I couldn't even finish a cigarette as it tasted so foul!

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

I have gone for more of a performance e-cig. Known as the Tornado or eGo-T with a 510 connection consisting of a 650 mAh Battery which with a full charge lasts me all day and more. For heavy vapours larger batts are available at 900 mAh and 1000 mAh, all run at 3.7volts.

My choice of carts are the Boge 2.7ohm versions. These things are by far the best thing on the market imo. The vapour production is excellent, extremely consistent, very economical on the e-juice in comparison to atomisers, tanks and the like. The flavours are much more pronounced on the 2.7ohm versions and due to the Boge design ie the way the heating element and packing heats the juice there is no nasty burning taste that you often get from some other products. They cost around £1 each and last anywhere from 5 to 7 days. I cant say enough about this bit of kit.

With the Boge I personally like a Delrin (thermoplastic) driptip on the end which removes you from the heat of the cart, cools the vapour a tad and reduces the chance of any splash back getting in your mouth from the bubbling e-juice. Also they are contoured to fit your lips which the stock Boge is not. I recommend staying away from the aluminium tips... Not really tooth friendly.

As for juice, I make my own. Cant beat a bit of DIY. I am not a fan of the PG due to the lower vapour production compared to the VG which gives off plumes of vapour that I find much more satisfying.
In short... I buy a bottle of the 50mg strength VG nicotine, mix it down to around 25mg with Glycerin from Boots and a dash of de-ionised water. After adding my own flavours this leaves me with an 18mg strength finished e-juice.

The biggest problem for newbies is finding you flavour, took me a few months personally but found I'm a dessert man, I find the tobacco flavours pretty nasty and didn't get on too well with the fruity ones. For me it is a mix of Chocolate, Vanilla and fudge (butterscotch).

    Best of luck vapours.

Yeah after a week i remember they tasted like burnt rubber lol......i read about them on the web, zyban was actually invented as a anti depressant but the side effect was it made you not want to smoke.....but then it got quite scary when people started dying.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

So, 3 days since getting my Mini Protank Vaping kit from My E Pack, and i've not touched a single roll up.

Vaping IS different to smoking analogues, but its similar enough to feel like i'm having a fag. I (foolishly) got some Tobacco flavoured juice, as well as red cola and honey, thinking that the Tobacco one would be a good safe bet if the other flavours didn't give me the same feeling as analogue fags. The Tobacco flavoured juice is horrible, tastes nothing like tobacco, and leaves a dirty taste in my mouth. Worse than smoking roll ups, but maybe i was used to the horrible taste of roll ups after so many years?

Had a bit of a nightmare yesterday, when i accidentally put the tobacco flavoured juice in the red cola box, and had to endure a full cartridge of tobacco flavour for the day, whilst wondering why my red cola was tasting so horrible - wont be making that mistake again.

I'm not sure how much i am smoking now. I'm unsure about how many puffs of the e-cig equate to a roll up, so i am in the little and often camp at the moment. The battery and juice is lasting well, although i think there is slightly worse vaporisation when the battery is low.

After 24 hours without a roll up my chest felt clearer. For the last two days I've been a bit bunged up, and on the first day, i had a bit of a headache, which i think was nicotine induced. I think i'm feeling better for swapping to e-cigs though, and it is satisfying my craving's and habitual smoke times very well. Also, the e-cig was good enough even for a cigarette that one might have after a certain strenuous bedroom activity, which surprised me a bit. Oh, the missus says i taste better too now!

Thanks again to everyone who posted comments or advice. I'll keep the thread updated when i can.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Ah good, I went with the Liqua cola and a Kanger T3s to start but I think I'm going to go for a glass tank so I can try citrus flavours

I think 18mg is too strong for me though, but I vape a lot less to compensate or i feel the nicotine a lot more

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Friend of mine is trying to give up smoking and decided to try e-cigs. She doesn't like the taste (says it's too sweet) and the unit itself is bigger and heavier than a cigarette so it doesn't quite feel right in the hand either.

It strikes me though that they're not really designed for weaning off smoking/tobacco/nicotene; they seem to be very much designed for people who still want to get that hit but don't want the smoke.

You can buy e-cigs at the poundshop now but looking up the ingredients on the packaging in wikipedia doesn't exactly instill confidence in their safety lol: Propane-1,2-diol, Glycerol, Pyridine.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Wow, didn't know those things existed. As a non-smoker I have little to contribute to this thread, but I wanted to comment that it is quite fascinating to see people mention volts and ohm in a device that's designed for inhaling. Going by this thread, it looks like quite a few people are using those, which is kind of interesting as I've never seen. Might be to do with the fact that my circle mainly consists of non-smokers, or perhaps the lack of odour means I don't notice it when it's been used in my presence. And though I am not sure if it is really 100% safe to bystanders, I assume that it is probably safer, and in Japan where smoking in pubs/restaurants etc. is still common it would be an improvement to me if people were to swap their cigarettes for electronic ones.

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

So, 10 days or so since trying Vaping, no proper cigarettes, at all! I don't feel bunged up, some things are tasting slightly different but all this was to be expected.

I got some Dekang Banana e-juice today. I discovered a local vaping shop and went in for a chat. Asked the chap what the banana juice was like, and he said its just like those foam bananas you get in pick n mix. He's not wrong, its absolutely lovely stuff!

    Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Best thing to do is quit obviously but I found it hard, next best thing that worked for me is E-cigs.
I was a 15-20 Golden Virginia rollup smoker a day. Started smoking 17 years ago, thinking I'd never quit. I once laughed at a guy smoking an e-cig in a cig shelter at work as he previously slated rollup smokers who use filter tabs as sissies (which I did) and used to smoke without filters. Anyway, I saw a light come on then vapour and lol'd at him but at least he tried and is now back to smoking. Another guy at work was vaping also and I thought nothing of it.
Then this second guy came in a dream and the next morning I thought yes, e-cigs are the way to go. (unfortunately this 2nd guy switches between cigs and e-cigs)
Anyway I tried a tesco branded one and thought hmm, not bad. But it didn't last long at all. Then I did my research and realised that pretty much all e-cigs bought from shops, petrol stations and chemists are quite naff. If you want the real deal, read the online reviews. I did my research and am using 2 brands, both which were in the top 3 rated brands in May 2013. Things might have changed, not sure. They are:
    1) Jac Vapour - Using a VG02 auto battery with a tank, although megacarts are ok aswell
    2) Green Smoke - like a normal e-cig which the cartomise gets screwed in the battery then off you go.

For Jac Vapour I use Tobacco Virginia 1.1% and find it to satisfy my needs. For green smoke I like Red Label and Mocha Mist is nice too. Have quit smoking completely since May and will not go back to it.
Don't forget any brand which you go for should have a field for a promotional code so do a google search before placing an order. For Jac Vapour I got a 20% code by googling it, if you need it, PM me. Green Smoke have regular offers anyway so they apply the discount themselves most of the time.
