In Dunfermline yesterday it was a bit breezy but nothing exceptional. Compared to the rest of the UK, it's been an almost blissful couple of months, like an extended Spring in fact. Makes it all the more shocking when seeing how bad the floods are elsewhere.

Pretty wet here at the moment, although not too windy. Most of the power cables here are underground, so unless a substation gets taken out, or a main distribution transformer, I should be OK. I of have a 4KVA generator standing by, just in case (and a 1 KvA UPS to stabilise its output for electronic stuff).

Struggling - Between idiot developers building blocks of flats on the flood plains and stupid customers putting leftover cement powder down the drains, we're having one heck of a time.

To clarify, I work in civil infrastructures and part of my job is to help alleviate the flooding. The network itself is generally well-designed, but was never intended to handle THIS much ground water.
We're also having to work around Network Rail, who are closing off certain lines to try and re-lay the tracks - That's 6 months worth of work needing doing in less than 2 weeks!!

All we need now is for the Underground to flood out and we'll be doing emergency works on an epic scale.

bit scared tbh. had to do some "amateur roof repairs" (which basically amounted to shoving 2 loose slates back into the places they'd come from & hoping for the best)

obviously, praying they hold till next week when i can get a proper roofer to look at them & sort them properly, but in the meantime am parking the car at the end of the drive as far from the house as physically possible

Had two fence panels and expensive trellis bits wrecked. By the neighbour leaning huge heavy fencing posts against them in the one in a million chance they might blow over on his children. Who must like going out in storms or something. Not sure whether to photograph and bill him or just let it slide in the name of a quiet life.

Its been a blowy few days in Poole, quite a bit of localised flooding. I live on top of a hill so I should be ok.

Got up this morning to a thin film of salt on my west facing patio doors! I'm at least 2 mile from the sea!

A bit of #firstworldproblems here, a potted bay tree had blown over last night. Hardly disastrous but ruined the feng shui of the patio dahling!
