Yeah was watching something today on Discovery about the trouble the Russians had with street fighting in Berlin.
They lost something like 5000 tanks in Berlin .

or...the allies could all withdraw from the city they're in and make a big deal about it. then fly a few big planes over head to scare the crap out of the left over rebels - my thinking is that any innocents would have fled long ago.
if they've got half an ounce of brain they'd flee the town too - but being fanatics I guess its wishful thinking. oh well...nuke 'em. ungrateful sods

nerve gas, non permanent, doesn't damage buildings, no fallout to contend with and after a cleanup operation the civvies could move back in.
Kills 99% of all known insurgents...dead! The other 1% you'll find in a few dark corners that were missed after the first clean up. Give it a few days and you'll be able to sniff them out.

didn't stop Saddam carrying out some field trials did it? Anyway, using a WMD would be kinda bad form given the excuses used to go to war in the first place.
Getting back on thread though. Now that they have had a result in Falluja, they'll be more effective in any future ops. Along with sending out a message that if the insurgents take over a city then we'll come and take it back.
When you look at the balance of things the insugents have had a kicking and a half. Their leaders turned tail at the first sniff of trouble. Leaving the rank and file to face the music. A bit easier cutting the head off of a terrified, subdued and bound captive than facing an armed and fit soldier in an enclosed area. They have lost more than just numbers in this operation.

It seems that they are opting for a war of attrition as they did in Vietnam. Well with luck teh Iraqis will fill the power vacuum. After all that is what is best for the country. Some of the Iraqi units performed pretty well in Fallujah. Still some way to go though. Mind you. it takes time to build an effective force so the fact that some of them did well in the recent joint operations shows that they are willing and keen to become a professional force.

yep, not a Brit in sight. Unless of course they can find a way to come to our rescue. Got it, a Bahamian Bradley driver will get the MOH for rescuing a trapped British patrol.
