end of top of the pops?

BBC are dropping top of the pops from their thursday spot to a sunday afternoon - never watched - spot...
just shows how stupid people in charge can cock things up at the BBC.

    TOTP On The Move!

You may have heard rumours that TOTP will be moving to BBC2 next Spring. Well, it's true but don't worry.

The show's going to be bigger and better than ever! The new look TOTP, will move to BBC2 with a new Sunday evening slot closely linked with the brand new chart rundown on Radio 1.

The new format will combine classic archive performances with current chart acts to appeal to a wide range of music lovers.

BBC One controller Lorraine Heggessey said: "Top of the Pops has enjoyed a great life on BBC One and the production team have done a wonderful job with the series."

BBC Two controller Roly Keating said the programme would find a "natural home" on the new channel and he promises the show will be even more exciting.
as about as exciting as a mid afternoon slumber on sunday afternoon...or not even!!

Well judging from the "Talent" I think that a joint songs of praise/TOTP showing will result in greater viewing figures for songs of praise!

Seriously the ****e music that appears on TOTP these days is absured. And they harp on about filesharing being the cause of the music demise. Produce something good for once!

my thought about boris johnson is that he'd give them his frank opinions...something along the lines of:

"why on earth the bbc pays for that rubbish is beyond me, but now onto the next artist. wait, "artist"? surely just some inflated egos jumping around on a stage to flashy lights isn't considered culturally advanced now can it? oh it is. my mistake."

that means it'll compete with either Antique Road Show or Songs of Praise

Just about where half of the chart deserve to be sadly

I think it's a good move. Why? Because the chart is done on a Sunday... you have to wait a whole 5 days to watch TOTP to find out who was no.1 if you don't listen to Radio 1. Maybe some interaction of Radio 1 and TOTP, or maybe TOTP might go live instead of pre-recorded?

Either way, it's a smart move

lol @ u lot, sound like such old men. Looking at it seriously, it's decreasing popularity is not due to the 'merde' on it. It's cos of the absurd amount of music channels & music shows around nowadays. TOTP used to be a once a week treat with all the latest music, these days kids/young people just shove on the music channels whenever they choose so the concept of a music show once a week isn't that amazing as they've heard all the songs played for weeks in advance.

Moving it to sunday afternoon is wise as it means they'll be able to try get some of the snoozing dads/mums viewing it with these 'archive' performances

yeah its gotta be a good thing, its full of that RnB rubbish nowadays anyway o.O What we need is a version of TOTP to replace it that contains rock/metal/indie, now that would be cool

all worth a listen, except cliff who's just annoying at times. but here's the thing; you get all that music everywhere you go when doing the xmas shopping anyway so why want to watch more of the same? did you never get sick after eating too many sweets? - same thing here, too much xmas music = sickening!

Don't get me started on christmas music

I have been in a fair few shops over the last week and have learned:

    A) Santa Claus is Coming to town
    B) Something about mistletoe and wine
    C) People dream of snow
    D) Noddy holder from slade really does have a loud voice - almost akin to brian blessed
