Just got my first Phishing email

The other day, I got a notification mail from someone telling me that a message I had sent them was infected with Netsky (of course I responded by saying All Viruses Spoof Email Addresses, so Turn Off Notification You Fools). Now it seems that the spammers have my address, 'cos I got my first phishing email just now. I've just forwarded it to my home address.

Is there any danger in having a bit of sport by filling in dozens of totally spurious names and details in order to waste their time? Am I likely to leave myself open to hacking attacks, exploits on the spoof detail collecting site etc.? I use Firefox FWIW, have SP2 w/ firewall on. If so, are there any good 'anonymiser' sites I can use to hide my IP address?

    Cheers,

    Rich :¬)

In my opinion - just dont bother. Just add it to your block / delete it and get on with your life.

i deal with mailflow for a major gov organisation that covers the whole world and we get millions of these phishing and other sort of spam mails a day.

Just bin it like you would the junk mail thru your front door!

Well, it's not like I'm short of time, and every five minutes that the scammers spend putting my nonsense into the bank's website is 5 minutes that they're not stealing some victim's money. If we all make the signal-to-noise ratio really poor for them it'll make their life pretty difficult.

ahh....dont you send Junk mail back to them in their own envelope to cxost them money?

or send it to a different company using their pre paid envelope.....send the junk mail to other junk mail companies.

Noooooo.....the post office are stretched to breaking point as it is. If they weren't I agree it would be a good idea, but I'm sure that at the moment all you achieve is delaying everyone else's letters.

Nope, I agree with Zak, I'll always return Junk Mail to the sender. For some reason the Mail preference service isn't as good as the TPS...

Got another email today. They seem to be from the same people who used to send me nonsense emails with strange corrupt gifs attached. Got knows what that one was about. This one's supposedly from The Woolwich, but it's just as pathetically poor as the other one. If they're going to go to all the effort of running the scam, you'd think they'd get someone who can actually write good English to do the mails for them.

Anyway, unless someone warns me off, I'm going to go home and fill their server full of nonsense tonight, then I'll go on 419eater and see if I can get the site shut down.

I think we should buy shares in royal mail, set off a return the junk to sender campaign and then cash in our shares after initial rise in profits but before junk mailers have to stop sending junk.

    We'll be millionaires.
