    How switching has developed...

Hi im having a bit of trouble with an assignment question on the history of switching in the telephone system.

    The question is this:
"Describe how switching has developed since the telephone network was originally set up"

Basicly i need to say what came first, what came next etc giving a little description on each.

Wondering if anyone could give me a hand with this question as im having a bit of trouble finding info on this.
