What is the best company to go with? I am finishing uni in June but I have just brought loads of electrical equipment and want to make sure it does not go for a walk without me getting some money back.

I'm with endsleigh and they've been pretty rubbish ever since my computer went belly up. desktops are only covered under contents insurance and therefore only insured against accidental damage - and then they sent it away to a 3rd party company who after two weeks still haven't figured out that i burned out my mobo.
Endsleigh are pretty much the only company who'll insure students
However, as soon as you leave Uni, get away from them asap. They sent me a renewal for my contents (£15,000, accidental damage, personal effects off-site) and they wanted £360, or about £430 if you didn't want to pay all up front and a £100 excess!
I had a quick scan around and got the same cover, but with only a £60 excess, from esure for £100.
Bung it on your parents insurance and offer to pay the rest. You can get them to cover you while you are in full time education. Thats what I've done
Might be included anyway.

Putting it on your Parents is deffo the cheapest (sometimes free) way to go about things.

Cheers for your help people.
i vaguely remember something about HSBC doing student insurance aswell
SideNote: Most parents policeys wont cover 2 things:
Computers
Walk in thefts (your housemate came back smashed and left the door unlocked = no cover)
I had cover with Ensleigh cost me £120 in the final year after i had finished aquiring electronic equipment.
Ohh and as a side note I had my bike stolen in the firstyear from the locked bike sheds on campus and I wasnt covered by my parents policy, although they admit that if it had been chained to a railing in town it would have been. Tis amazing what liquid O2 will do to D-Locks.

Natwest does contents insurance.
Edit: for students
It's amazing how easy it is to break a d lock!
Several ways.
If you have a good bike and are going to a hall or campus then i would suggest not taking it as they are specifically targeted by thieves. Even in a locked bike shed thing.
Especially at Nottingham uni campus
