NEC/Mitsubishi deserve praise - so here it is!

Most of the time people will moan about companies giving poor customer service or rubbish this and that, but not many of us seem to applaud those companies who do give a good service.

I bought a 2nd hand monitor of off another forum I frequent several months ago. A nice 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930sb - Black. Looked absolutely stunning and performs incredibly well for the price. However, as per this thread, things had started to take a turn for the worse. The picture had gone a funny shape, it started to discolour and it seemed to be randomly degaussing itself (or that's how I can only explain it!).

Anyway, I thought the end was nigh and started looking into the possibility of replacing my once fantastic CRT with an expensive TFT. That is until I saw this thread. Inspired by wannabgeek I got straight on the phone to NEC/Mitsubishi in the hope that they could help, but feared I would be told it was either out of warranty or they couldn't help as it was 2nd hand.

Low and behold, I called and waited for the phone to be answered. I waited and waited and waited. I thought, OK, this isn't a great start! Then I got through to a very friendly lady who proceeded with the usual, taking info about me, my monitor and it's fault. She put me on hold whilst she spoke to one of her technical colleagues and came back with some good news.

"Hello Allen, we are aware of this fault and this can be rectified. You have 2 choices, you can either return the product for it to be fixed, or we can replace it with a refurbished model."

I thought for a second whilst she explained that a factory refurbished model would be under warranty still for the same length of time my monitor had left and that any imperfections would've been removed (so it would basically be "like new"). I didn't like the sound of waiting 5 days for my monitor to be fixed and returned so I opted for the replacement option. To my complete astonishment she said, "OK, we will have the refurbished model sent out to you by courier tomorrow and will be swapped with your old one."

I cannot explain how happy I am with this RMA process. Not only are they replacing my monitor, but they are doing it with NO cost to me what-so-ever AND on the next day! This is simply outstanding customer service and I would not hesitate to purchase a NEC/Mitsubishi product in the future.

Well done guys! You've made me very happy.

Just thought I'd share this with you to let you know about their competant customer service and to share some good news. Well, for me it is anyway, I don't have to revert to a 17" non-flat screen CRT now!

It did turn up, at about 10am this morning! The courier didn't even look at the old one, just took it away, leaving me with a clean, new looking, fresh, crisp monitor. Plugged it in and it worked straight away at my desired resolution of 1600x1200, is being recognised as a 939sb instead of something else and has a perfect screen image with much better colouring!

I am well chuffed with the service they have provided!

Hmm, 1600x1200 isn't the native resolution for that monitor so you wouldn't get an image as high quality?

Well, the hyundai service is excellent (once you find the correct company). My Hyundai Imagequest Q17+ decided to kill itself (250 pixels dead in one go). I told hyundai that i needed a TFT straight away, they sent one and took the old one without looking at it or contacting me again so i had a spanking new TFT within a week.

    It's a CRT so doesn't interpolate like a TFT
I can pretty much guarantee that it will give an image that no equivalent consumer TFT can match

I had same nice service from Netgear....and I got me a new one too and it was second hand.

SOME OF THESE GUYS DESERVE SOME FAME

    NEC/MITSU.....well done people

I can tell you now, that Allen will ALWAYS consider buying NEC stuff now and if any of his friends/family ask what to buy, he won't hesitate

Its' THAT kinda thing that sells hardware...longterm .Its why Crucial are so popular. Awesome service, ace product.

    Well done people

i've been running their 22" pro monitors for years - and any problems have always been sorted by next day replacement and repair. the only time I moaned to them was when we got a batch of 6 black ones on the cheap - and they were replaced by a white model - took them a week to sort it out - but it was worth it to stop the editors moaning and avoiding that particular edit suite!

... edit - I was also running one at home for a couple of years, but it was compaq oem model - a bit irritating as the color spacing was off - compaq wouldn't fix it - but NEC talked me through the manual re-calibration to sort it out! very nice of them too!

It is really as I'm still a fan of CRT over TFT and will be for a while yet until I can see a visible advantage ( like 38" wall mounted TFT ) but thats a few years off as yet I reckon.

At least I've a nice CRT to use until then ...
