I find that Sidewinder picture very suspicious - they leave the rail of a jet at such high speed there is no way a casual photographer could get 2 clear photos like that.
I think its slightly dodgy, only thing I could think of would be it falling of when the aircraft landed. WHat you reckon????

Even then, you'd still have to be a hell of a cameraman to track it , and then get such clear images (assuming it was an analogue source)Originally Posted by Knoxville
Its not an impossible event by any means, it happened during the closing stages of the Falklands when a Harrier GR3 at Port Stanley Airbase accidentally fired both sidewinders (electrical fault - not caused by the pilot) and they causied a number of injuries and fatalities, so it can and HAS happened.
I'm just wary of such a split second event being captured so clearly by camera. If you saw the speed a sidewinder comes off the rail of a jet, well, lets just say I'm looking for a suitable mpeg.
edit - found one

Holy crap, imagine seeing that out the window!
This site's great! Plenty of wallpaperage...
I was thinking the exact same thing! I have only just recently been on a plane and I sat in the same position as that photo was taken from!Originally Posted by Norky

I thought the sidewinder ones were absolute fakes.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
