How about working supermarket shelves eh? "Temporarily Unavailable" should surely be a big enough clue that no, there aren't any hiding in the warehouse and no I don't know if any of our competitors have it in stock...

Later in the conversation I just add "OK I suppose I could go and check the warehouse AGAIN..." and just hide upstairs until the security guard tells me they left lol.

tut...tut thats just plain naughty I used to work for a well known food & clothing retailer so I know the pain you feel. I used to check the computers and print out the report showing when they we're due in and thrust that upon them. That way they have no comeuppance and can't moan that they did not get an adequate answer.

we used to do that a lot, or go and fetch 'my manager' (random work colleague) to tell them we had none

best bit was when the store got refurbished - the customers didnt know where anything was and neither did we - i just sent them down an isle at the other end of the shop (bigass out of town siansubris job) and went for a tea break

a sales man I worked with once was going to hand over a new car to a family, who arrived on time, he welcomed them, sat them all down, made dups of tea, went out the back to collect the new car from the valeters bay, met another customer who had a problem, sorted that, got a call from his missus, forgot he had people waiting to take a new car away....

    and went home.

It all started at 5:30 and by 6:15 I asked if they were ok, which they were, but were waiting for a new car and asked if they were stroed somewhere else and how long would my colleague be?

I went to find him, no sign, saw the car in the valeteres bay waiting, and rang him on his mobile, no reply....

gave up ...took the car round to the people, invoiced them , showed them al the stuff, got home an hour late myself, got grief off my lass (my ex now) for being late again!

The morning after the bloke did not remember a thing.....til I pointed out he owed me a large crate of lager.
