Yeah, I've got to change. I need an end to end cable check really. Can't migrate to a re seller, which are only BT under a different name/bill.
I'm still not sure how it works.. local loop unbundling seems to imply that the ISP has installed it's own equipment in the exchange - but I'm worried about my copper pair from my home TO the exchange...

My classic BT connection helpline "help" is -
    Helpdesk "It's your router.."
Me "I've re-installed the Alcatraz Frog USB modem and that says I have no ADSL connection too"
Helpdesk "It's your router - we don't support that make of router"
Me "I'm Not Using a Ferkin' Router"
Helpdesk "Our checks show you are connected...."
So - No problem there then - but if there IS, then it's my fault...

Just to be on the safe side whenever I ring up BT I always disconnect the router and tell them that I am using the modem that they gave me. It saves about 2 minutes of explaining its not my router at fault.

We've rung up to complain about a faulty connection at least twice now. 1st time (when we were sharing 1 modem between 2 pc's) they said it was a filter or something. We'd obviously tried a new filter AND tried the modem on both PC's, so we KNEW it was the modem that was wrong, but it took a lot of convincing for them to give us a new one.

The most recent time, they said our cables were too long at our end, even though we've been using broadband for over a year.

Whatever you say, it's never their fault - always yours.
