What do you peeps use to repair CD/DVDs etc??
I've heard people use toothpaste, hair conditioner etc to do it.
"put toothpaste all around it and wipe in an outward motion, not circular, and it should fix it right up..."
Does this actually work??

Skip doctor....
Most of mine are OK once they've been wiped lots and rubbed on my shirt. Sorted.
i breath on them, then wipe them on my shirt.. i wouldn't want to go trying chemicals on it, because it could make it worse...
Yeah. Good old breathing, sorts out most things.Originally Posted by XA04

I have resurrected terminally skipping DVDs with toothpaste. It can be a long and tedious process though.
Whats this toothpaste method then? I have never heard of it.
How exactly does it work? Must be more than just rubbing?
toothpaste has worked really well for me in the past, just got to make sure its not got any funky cleaning crystals in it or anything, I really have found Theramed to be the best bet, its a toothpaste/mouthwash in one and its runny, works best, the micro crystal stuff in it gets all the dirt and crap out and shines up the playing surface,
Dammit I tried not to but I still ended up like an advert.....

Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
At least you aren't Barry Scott!
Basically nearly all toothpaste has ground glass in it to act as an abrasive, that's how it gets your teeth feeling smooth, and that's why it can polish away scratches in the polycarbonate of a CD/DVD.
FWIW I no longer use toothpaste on my teeth, partly because I don't want to wear them away, but mainly because I always used to wake up with minty bad breath thanks to the sugar content.
Nice. Toothpaste always makes my mouth hurt.
I looked up a company that repairs discs, i think you can do it by mail or finding one of their stores.
I think it was £4 a disc though , but if they guarantee recovery then it may be worth it
