    Women (Girlfriends) Paying For Things...

Just wondering where everyone stands on this, so...

Personally, I would always expect to pay for things like meals in restaurants, drinks in pub \ clubs, any entrance fee to the club, taxis home, take away, etc.

I'd expect to do this all the time, as long we both of us were there. I don't think this is affected either way by who has more money, earns more, etc.

So, now a question to 3 groups of people:

Other male Hexites: Where do you stand on this? Same as me, different, something in-between? (*checks*... yeah, that’s all 3 bases covered)

HEXUS Laydees: Same question, but also, if a man insisted on doing this, would you be pleased, or would it get on your tits? (Delicately put, I thought...)

Guardian Readers: Is my attitude PC or not at the moment? I don't keep up with such things...

    Thanks all.

Unless he offers to buy me something special, we will split it half and half.
He is very good at treating me though, and will often offer to pay for nights out etc, as he has more pennies than me.

It is nice when he pays for stuff, but as an equality loving girly (except when i say so) i like to at least offer to pay my way.

But then I pay for his shopping and stuff, so it works out evenly in the end.

I think what i'm trying to say is that i'm usually conscious of the amount of money he spends on me, and i try to equal it in other ways.

I love to pay for things, it's a nice feeling to show your appreciation but she's very into the 50/50 thing. If Ibuy cinema tickets one night, she buys me a couple of pints the next etc but overall I'd say I pay for more.

I don't mind either way but when someone expects to have everything paid for is when I say "byeeeee!"

I dunno.. if you're only earning £30,000 a year and she's earning £50,000 then I'd feel a tool if I was paying for all the treats
A bit like an 80 year old man giving up his seat for an 18 year old girl - unless he's trying to look up her skirt of course....

to be brutally honest we sort of share. though I tend to pay fo the food (sainsburys etc.) more often than not.
she gets me the odd thing here and there too so it sort of works out ok I guess. I'm working, she's a student so I expect to pay a bit - but not for EVERYTHING, that would p*ss me off...

the old "gentlemen" thing has gone to way to far tbh. Opening doors, offering a ride home. "i will pick u up", "i will come to yours tonight" is all gentlemen gestures. Paying taxis, nightclubs, entrance fees, meals to my personally is trying to hard or u have too much money. Relationship is give and take. fair enough treat them once in a while. but every week stuff too me is a bit much, and cheaky if the girl/women expects it week in week out.

I don't mind getting most stuff, but I am man enough to ask for help occassionally.. don't expect much, just a little contribution towards something for both of us on the odd time...

Personally I like to go halves on everything, tho being single I mostly go out with mates etc.

In a 'coupley' situation I still like to pay my way but it is really nice to be taken out and treated by a guy who insists on paying. I still usually find a way to pay for something. I have a real issue with accepting too much, dont like to be seen as someone who takes the p1ss tbh.

Been a long time since Ive been taken out and treated by a fella tho.... *sigh*

i suppose we share things equally, even if it doesnt seem like it at the time. When i'm there i'll buy the shopping and he'll buy me drinks when we go out. but i generally pay my own way otherwise; cinema tickets, food, stuff i like in shops etc

With my ex we used to take turns each..
atm I tend to offer to pay, but I like for a girl to say they'll pay half or something if I offer to pay (even though most of the time I'd probably insist if we haven't been seeing each other long).
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

Who ever has money pays, if we both have money we'll each pay for our own stuff.

I find all this chivalry and girls who expect it, offensive and sexist.

I do expect any girl (or girls) that I am in a relation ship with to pick me up and drive if we are going some place, simply beacause I never bothered to get a licence.

I also expect any friends I'm with, male or female, to pull their own weight in any physical confrontations we should stumble into, if I could use a hand and I'm out numbered, or about to be permanently injured/killed.

Me & the mrs have always been 50/50. She'd be offended if I tried to pay all the time as she thinks it makes her feel/look inferior, which she obiously isn't.

However, I would, given the choice. But having said that, marriage & a joint account sort of negates the whole thing a little.

Half and half is fair I reckon.

I'm not one of those people that gets a calculator out to work out who owes what at a restaurant for example, i'd just split it 50/50.

Don't bother about what's "PC" these days. Just do what you reckon is right. "Political Correctness" is irrelevant, because different people will have different opinions.

I personally couldn't care if someone's "PC" or not. People are either nice people or c***s

pretty much half-and-half overall.. maybe she pays for a bit more than me.. but thats mainly cos i'm broke. we both have the same job, but i run a car (which i drive her around in a lot) which basically means i have less spendable income than her.. i'll be getting a fat (70%) payrise in a month thou, so i should be able to start spending more on her.. but generally half-and half.
