Well, they'll do most people in my experience. I've never left hungry....although I suppose sometimes I would have preferred more chicken and fewer chips. Anyway, TBH there's so much to do in London you should see what he's into and plan around that- no point taking him to art galleries and museums if he wants to go to Sega World.
nandos is not a must... its the typical haunt of many students. wagamamas on the other hand is not sushi at all. thats what Yo! sushi is...kind of given away in the name a little.
wagamamas is a noodle bar, very tastey too. the one at covent garden is often very busy. check their site for other locations. I recommend them.
do you like art gallery type stuff? if so I can say that the wallace collection is a must. always quiet. has a cool armoury section. its free.
natural history museum/science museum...both pretty cool, there might even be special exibitions on at the moment
i imagine you want to do a few touristy things, obvious ones have already been mentioned. the eye - i've still not been on and I lived in london all my life!

wallace collection is very good, most boys like guns, swords axes, etc. Good thing about the free museums is that you can just wonder in to look at one exhibition, and then move on someplace else.
I didn't know what Wagamamas was so I googled, and I came accross this what made me laugh:Originally Posted by Norky

How come a trip to London got hung up on where to eat? Don't get me wrong, Wagamamas and Yo Sushi are cracking (although my wife and I regularly pass the £50 for 2 mark when we pop out for lunch, so I'd take issue with Scottyman's 'it's cheap' comment) but they're not really touristy...there's a good number of 'ye olde pubs' in london worth going to for a traditional English lunch, although I can't think of any off the top of my head. If you don't fancy that then I'd have to offer a non-tourist option and say Royal China on Queensway for some of the best Chinese food this side of Hong Kong.
Which would allow you to walk down through Hyde Park bringing you out at Kensington Road, just round the corner from Harrods (if you're really interested in going there....it'd take a day to see it all...go be morbid at the Diana memorial, cheque out the souvineer section, and maybe the toy section for the £20,000 kids ferrari, and pick up some Krispy Kreme donuts from the sweets/breads section). Then you can take a bus up to Hyde Park Corner, up Piccadilly (or down to Buckingham Palace), then to Piccadilly Circus/Trocadero. Then it's not far to Covent Garden.
Then I guess you could either head South to Houses of Parliment and the London Eye, or East to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
Either way I hope you get a cracking day for it....London is one of the most incredible places on earth when the sun's out....when it rains I just want to jump on a plane and get the hell away from it, but when it's sunny there's nothing like it...

true about price - it's great for a lunchtime snack, but expensive for a major meal (yo! sushi)
i had to shoot into town for a meeting in covent gdn. this morning and it was packed with tourists - I don't remember it being quite that bad on a tuesday - but it's worth avoiding the tubes and buses if at all possible (no ventilation) - i ended up walking from waterloo station which wasn't bad - but the tube back again was a nightmare with the heat.
i go with my bro often and spend less than £20...at either waga's or yo!...

I prefer the natural history museum over the science museum. by far the best place i have visited in london is St Pauls catherdral its cheap and has a great view.
Wagamama is a steaming pile of cack.

A complete waste of money.
Noodle is usually overcooked, tastes like those you can find in a typical Chinese supermarket for around 50p and to make it worse, the cook didn't even bother to shake the noodle cake loose during cooking (which means I get lumps of flour instead of proper noodle). How on earth can Wagamama presents itself as a Japanese restaurant when you can't even get this basic thing right?
-
Anyone who has tasted proper Japanese wouldnt like anything from Wagamama. Rice dishes look very unattractive, taste pretty awful and I am sure any Japanese people wouldn't like Wagamama to be associated with Japanese cruise.
-
I went to this restaurant a while ago, so I don't know if things have changed, but I was shocked by the quality of the food. I knew the food isn't authentically Japanese, so I wasn't expecting that, but I had a rice dish which was inedible. I find it hard to bring myself to complain, but the rice was so undercooked I spoke to our waitress, who went to speak to the chef. She came back to say that it is Japanese rice, and that is how he does it. I said I am Japanese and that's not how it should be done, and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was conciliatory, saying he agreed with me, but seemed powerless to do anything apart from offer me an alternative dish for free instead. One of my friends had a terrible time as well, ordering a noddle dish where the noodles were overcooked and tasteless. I tried some myself, and they were so soft they fell apart as soon as you put it in your mouth. A spoilt evening on a friend's birthday.

My thoughts
I have eaten there once and i will never again, it was over cooked frozen noodles which means its in little bits, It is by far the worst ramen i have ever had.
Yo sushi is also not very good BUT its ok there are far far better places to get sushi.
Oh my god, we're still on food
So in short, screw sightseeing, just go eat at Wagamama's, Yo Sushi, and Nandos, then come back and tell us what you think.
Oh yeah, and as Scottymanwithtoomuchmoney says, avoid the tube if you can. Get a ticket for the tour buses, then you can just jump on and off as you see fit, and they'll take you just about everywhere you want to go.
