Harry Potter... [official thread - may contain SPOILERS!!]

[surprised no one's posted on this so far! well, just wanted to keep the forums space looking tidy...]

So, not long until stores all over the country open up at midnight to crowds of magician-hungry kids and their obedient parents rushing to be one of the first to buy the latest Harry Potter book; The Half-Blood Prince. I'm not one of those kids that will be staying up late to be first with a copy, then to read it in 8hrs straight. I prefer to take my time with a book, digesting it at the speed it dictates to me. I read the last on in 2 weeks or so I think, which lasted a holiday's evening reading. quite pleasent really.
I've read the others [seen the movies too] and I do enjoy a decent read but how does this new one shape up?
so, this thread I've started to discuss the twists, turns, pitfalls and good bits of the latest book in particular - and also the previous ones in the series...
perhaps your theories about certain parts in the plot as it unfolds as you read

No news here that this thread probably contains spoilers on the recent book. if you want to find out how things happen, then as this thread developes more will be added no doubt, but you have been warned.
safe bet = read the book yourself (unless you CBA)

I'm sitting in Starbucks at Borders with my son, missus and her mate using the wireless net here for free (it's a work thing...) waiting for midnight so they can buy the book. Can't stand Barry Trotter myself though!

Hopefully I'll get mine from Amazon tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to it, but I always have trouble remembering what happened in the last book...

i saw a snippet of newsround today and a HMV up on JK's doorstep had them on sale today... needless to say the publishers ripped them off the shelves within minutes, but some people got to read the first chapter beforehand.

none of the books were sold though.

i on the otherhand cant see what all the fuss is about, the films are rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish and the books, well, if i wanna read a book, i'll make it a good book like an anthology of porn.

I took Dumbledore with Bluesquare at 2/1 last November. Odds shortened down to 1/5 leading upto last week.

    -edited just to add

My only interest in Harry Potter is at the bookies. It's not my cup of tea really. Though I had to pick the missus and her friend up from Waterstones in town tonight

I say that Harry Potter has probably done a lot more for literacy levels (in adults aswell as kids) then most governments have.

My Copy turned up this morning from play.com, we pre-ordered it months ago!!! going to have to read Order Of The Phoenix again to remeind myself of what happens

It's hard to say what's going to happen in this book, there have been that many theories but there's bound to be a twist somewhere!

In Order Of The Phoenix it's assumed Sirius Black died when he fell behind the veil, be interesting to see if he is actually dead because it never actually said so, there must be more to his character than what we've seen so far

I haven't bought it yet! It's just so going to annoy me if it has anything like the amount of grammatical errors the last one did... I went through correcting each page.

Bloody idiot thinks she's a writer, totally spoilt the the tension and story line. As soon as I got into a bit, out would pop something even cat could correct! Then at the beginning of every book for each book so far (first three or so chapters) she goes on about 'Hermione, Harry's friend' etc Most people will have read the earlier one's no need to introduce everything and everyone.
