oh my god! i think i'm going to go off my head! ARGH!

At home we have problem neighbours, i've probably talked about them before. They play their "DOOF! DOOF! DOOF! BOOM BOOM! YADDA YADDA!" music at a stupid volume and at stupid times... They have scary arguments that quite often turn violent and they neglect their child (mentally, not physically). We've complained about them and reported them multiple times, but nothing happens. Anyway, this isnt about them.

I come and see my boyfriend twice a month... He moved into this flat just over a year ago, and it's a very nice area, quiet and well kept. Recently (in the past month) The neighbours that lived downstairs have moved out and a nice little CHAV couple moved in. Since then, they've been playing their sh*te (in my opinion) music at top notch, and flung all their doors and windows open so as many people as possible can hear. This is a constant thing, you're lucky if they turn it off at night, but it's been going on today since 10am. I just stuck my head out the back window and the guy is sat on the window sill smoking a MASSIVE joint.

Now in the year my bf's been living here there's not been so much as a HINT of problem neighbours. Everyone's lovely and considerate to all the other people living in the cul de sac. It's just these wasters that have just moved in that are being a complete pain.

To give you an idea of the noise in this house (with the double glazed windows closed) My mum phoned me twice on my mobile this morning, the volume was up as loud as it goes and i didnt hear it ring IN THE SAME ROOM AS ME! The only reason i knew she'd phoned was because the song changed and i heard the last 2 rings before she hung up.

I've only been here since friday, but my god, i come here in part to get away from my own neighbours who cause me huge amounts of stress, to come here and face exactly the same problem!

My bf has rung the estate agent that all these flats are rented with but the person for renting wasnt in today. But god help them, if they dont turn that music down, we will do everything we can to have them evicted. It's not on.

What makes these people think that everyone wants to listen to their (rubbish) music??? And why oh WHY does it need to be so loud that you cant think?? It's driving me up the wall!

Sorry about my rambling rage, but it's the only thing that's stopping me going down stairs and thumping the little ****'s face in

Have you tried approaching them and asking them to turn the music down?

Makes you want to grab a petrol powered chainsaw, cut through their front door, shout "HELLO! I'M HERE TO ADJUST THE VOLUME ON YOUR STEREO!" and then slice the damn thing in half.

It's the only language these people understand.

I honestly think a polite request would be counter-productive. They'd turn it up / keep it on even more often.

    Get the authorities onto them.

But you will have a stronger case if you do tell them you have tried.

At least if you don't lie they can't say you didn't

Get a sound meter (£30 from Maplins), keep detailed records of volume / duration before and after asking them to keep it down, then present the evidence to the authorities.

Personally, I'd also carry a hidden recorder when I first asked them to keep it down, to capture their response.

    Go for the jugular.

I'm having similar problems with my neighbours, lots of bassy rubbish starting at all times of the day/night. I always ask them to turn it down, sometimes its falls of deaf ears other times it works.
It got a little silly a few weeks ago so i phoned up the council (environmental services) and made a complaint. I'm now logging all noise issues in a diary type form. They have to collect 10 days+ of noise problems before taking the matter further.
I wouldn't bother with the police unless it gets very serious or a threat of violence, as all they said to me was goto the council and they will deal with it.

We've had a similar prob in our village with some numptie playing gabba at volume 24/7. Keep reporting the culprits to the environmental health dept. Contact your council for advice & get an ASBO served on them.

The offender here kept pushing it & finally got to do time. However, it didnt work & he came out & started again within a week.

Needless to say he's back in. All power to our local council for zero tolerance.

Ask them to turn it down nicely if you havent already. Its the best thing to do first.

if they dont, then contact police/council etc.. and get them to sort out the problem.

Also try reporting them for having drugs, that could get the polices attention

Why did we move house? Cos our gay neighbours felt it was well within their gay rights in the 80s to blast 'karma kamealeon' as loud as they could night and day

    My dad, finally cracked

I acctually have a similar problem..

There are chavs living opposite, and they like to have their music on quite loud. From my room, there crappy chav music is almost as loud as my own, which I dont put louder becuase I know it would annoy other people.

Also, just about everyone in my street has their own barbcues quite often, which means shutting all the windows which is a pita becuase its soo hot. I wouldnt mind but the gardens are so small here the smoke blows into every window and is really annoyiing!

Lastly, next door mows their lawn every morning at 7-8am which wakes me up.
They walk their dog even earlyer and the barking also wakes me up sometimes

Even more ennoying is a stray cat (atleast I think it is) which sometimes meows for hours mostly at night.

Theres some chavs living next door to us, and every now and then they play aweful trance music really loud. Apparently last time they did it, about 10 people from our road called the police, lol.

I suspect I p1ssed my neighbours off by playing Pomp and Cicumstance No1 at full volume at 3am last night. Frankly though, they should have woken up and been proud.
