If you get caught by a fixed yellow speed camera it shows you wern't paying enough attention. I know some one who got caught by the same camera 3 times in one day!

I am against them generally cos they place them in places that aren't accident spots. I'd rather see more police about to prevent/catch dangerous driving.

in the past, 80% of fixed speed cameras have had to go in spots where there have been 5 (iirc) or more serious injuries/deaths in the past 3 years. i believe it may now have to be 100% of the cameras have to go in those places

as you said thou, if you cant spot a bright yellow speed camera, you weren't paying attention, and how would you spot a kiddie running across the road in front of you wearing a black jacket? besides, if you dont wanna get caught, dont speed. if you have difficulty holding your car at 30, buy a less powerful car or aim for a speed further below the limit. simple really

1st, I saw that top gear. Made me laugh, the only way of making it impossible for speed cameras to catch you are:
    1) removing the numberplate
    2) don't speed
    or my favorite
    3) travel at 170mph (it's too fast for them)

2ndly, we've had a couple of speedcameras removed from sites in essex (We're crazy about having them here - I think we've got the most in the country) by proving they're not in accident blackspots. They even had to stop doing speed gunning there as it was more dangerous having them hide behind a hedge and making people rapidly slow down in a non built up area.

My mate took a pic of his dads Celica with some on, and the number plate from the flash was completely white

I couldnt see, but with some hue correction, etc it might be possible for the po-leece just to be able to see, and if so, your getting a fine, points and arrested

Someone had this stuff on their car on Sky's Traffic cop series too, the police camera inside the car couldn't read the plate either, and yet obviously the cops could.

Needless to say the driver got pulled and prosecuted.

So yes there are chemicals that do work, but i don't think this is one of them.

I did see a really nice gadget - it looked like a frame over your license plate but was infact some kind of LCD. At a flick of a wireless switch it would go black obscuring the plate completely. Whether or not the guy in the police car behind would notice the frame (or it suddenly turning black) I couldn't say.

There's a reason for not speeding - it does kill you know :- P (having been doing 20mph in a 30mph yesterday which probably saved a childs life yesterday)

Or just drive how you're supposed to? At the end of the day, you'll never get a better solution than that.

The problem occurs when you have silly speed limit restrictions. For example a road I know that used to be 50 was changed to 30 (with signs ruining the country for miles) even though no accidents have occured on that stretch.

The place where it could be dangerous outside a college is 30 but the speed camera is placed 700 yards down the road just before the road goes back to 50. wtf. It's placed there for people speeding up for the 50 part - purely to make revenue.

I also think that changing the speed limit to say 20 outside of a school at start and finish times is sensible I usually drop down when passing schools. Speed doesn't kill it's simply that people use innapropriate speed given conditions and whats ahead of them. Better driver training is needed. Say a more advanced test every 5 years.

in an ideal world that would work, however i think there would be a huge outcry if drivers were forced to take a new test every 5 years, because most would fail at least the first time which woudl provide a huge cost to them for further training.. i've only been passed for 2 years, but i recon i might struggle to pass a test if i took it tomorrow. that said, i'm a better driver than i was 2 years ago. wierd eh?

lol - I wish I could say the same. I was far more relaxed and curtous. Even the driving instructor was impressed (I passed first time!).

I think anyone doing something stupid who is under 25 (like drinking and driving) or being downright dangerous should loose their license. Damnit, I want my insurance premiums down (I'm only 23!)

Stupid looser chav boys in rediculous cars driving fast impressing the women when I'm stuck in my l000ser 1.3ltr ford fiesta driving slowly.

You need to find a way of hooking TomTom upto revolving James Bond number plates, tbh
