Thread: Can this US ebayer demand a Paypal chargeback?

    Can this US ebayer demand a Paypal chargeback?

    Hi !

    I sold an item to a US buyer in June and apparently he still has not recieved the item He paid me by echeque which took ages to clear because he had no Paypal account. I myself am a verified Paypaller and have a FB score of 326 at 100%! ...And him, he has no verified Paypal account and only a Feedback score of 1! Now what i need to know is as i'm in the UK and he's in the US can he get his Credit card Co to get Paypal to do a Chargeback? (Freeze the payment) Also to keep costs down he had the lowest Air shipping service which of course does not track the item or get a Sig when he recieved the item. Which i can kick myself for ...Oh and there was no Insurance paid either!
    So to avoid a possible chargeback and a Neg FB should i offer him his Money back minus the £10 P&P ?

    he didnt take the insurance, take a scan of your proof of postage and email it to him.

    Its his fault, and no he can't charge back as it was an eChq????

    I wouldn't offer nothing, mind you surface mail fromt he USA has been knonw to take up to 10 weeks to arrive....

    I'm pretty sure, unfortunately, that it's up to you to be able to prove that he received the item. For that reason, I wouldn't send anything valuable without a signature or insurance- it's just not worth the risk.

    If he specifically said that he didn't want insurance and that he would shoulder the risk, then you might have a case, if you have a proof of posting.

    dont offer him a refund unless the parcel is confirmed lost by who ever you sent it with.

    also how can he do a charge back via his cc company when from what i have read an eheque is basically a bank transfer?

    I know ebay have changed there Neg FB policy but not too sure of the new changes...So as he only has a score of 1and has only been a member for 7-9 weeks, is it Possible for him to leave me a neg FB?

    If he does you could probably ask for it to be removed as he was to blame and is blatently trying to scam or trick you.

    When did you send the item? and how long did the way of sending it say it could take?

    Credit cards can be claimed back - cheques and bank xfers can't. Never used echeques so couldn't tell you.

    Did you offer him the option of postal insurance? and he just didn't take it? or did you say it was unavailable?

    The item ended on the 15th june and he paid by echeque which cleared on the 22nd,the actual Ins details on the listing are:

    " If paying by cheque, i will only post item(s) after moneys are cleared,usually 2-3 working days.If buying from another country please contact me for details of payment and delievery. We prefer to send goods insured, skimping on postage is at your own risk. All items are sent with proof of postage and as such we accept no responsibility for goods that have been lost, insurance however covers this in most cases Good track record so far! "

    So it looks like he is at fault for not getting the advised ins!
    So if he left a neg how would i go about having it removed as i'm sure ebay dont like getting involved!

    Both parties have to agree for feedback to be removed, you can leave your own comments to any negative feedback given to you... and even if it's been removed you can still go view it

    Go look for a firefox add on called E-Negs
    You run it through an ebay users profile and it searches for any negative feedback

    Very useful
