So some friends have lauched an Internet Radio station...

They are based up in my dads workplace, and you need a winamp plugin to listen (seems to only work in IE) but it's going really well for them at the moment. Theres alot of dance music, drum n bass , hiphop, garage, old skool, etc. I know the geezas who operate it and I know the drum n bass act who are on right now even better - and it was funny when I made a shout out to them, and you see them crowd around the screen and go 'ahh its him HEEEEEEYY' lol! *plus the singer is fit*

www.phatbeats.net its a new start so im trying to support them Spread the word please, if you know anyone who would be interested in listening to this sort of music! Have a listen to it yourself too

I don't know, the admin guy who set it all up is like a bit of a geek, but I have seen the several comps he uses, there is a 1mbit connection for the webcam, my dads 512kb business DSL connection for audio, and one computer is used to control it all, and it seems to have winamp with the window showing the webcam, not sure. I haven't seen the computer in the actual room (its a 24/7 station, I don't want to just walk into there during their stuff lol) but it's probably a computer only connected to the chat room, and its programmed to recieve all the emoticons, shout outs and chat room etc.

My guess though, is that it WONT be that hard to set up. However I would research into finding a WMP powered one, because I ain't really in favour for the winamp one they are using.

Can you make the page FF friendly please?

[EDIT]It seems pretty popular, lots of shoutouts. How did he start the comminity off?

I did a shoutout and it only took 2 minutes and the MC was shouting it out.

Fully put off by the restrictiveness. I dont really want to use IE, and flash is way better than quicktime, which i also dont have. I'd have to go download winamp as well...

What bitrate is the stream, you wont be able to make too maney high quality conection of a 512k line.
