Any spare money is currently being used to pay off Credit cards, because the interest I'd have to pay on a credit card would far outweigh the interest I'd earn in a savings account.

^ exactly the point i was making...
Pay off credit card... then save...
i am only 18 but have been saving every penny i can for my life for when i need it later in life... prob for house. have quite a few grand in ISAs. apart from rent and bills tend to live off 5 a week when at home, 15 when at uni. comes from growing up so poor now i have loan etc dont feel i can waste it so it just stays in the bank.
My wife saves & I spend. I'm a total online shopaholic if I'm honest. Much better than I used to be, only one credit card these days Kids & child support seem to suck up the vast majority of my monthly wage.
Never been able to save tho......I am weak.....see.......want.......buy.
a whopping £0 at the mo
i'm blowing money left right and centre for 6 months (having got out of debt and got a payrise in the same month), then i'll start being sensible. first thing on the list was my new telly (finally) arriving tomorrow \o/

LOL.. exactly the same here m8e...I spend.. She Saves... and i'm the same.. see something I want.. Buy it and then worry about how to pay for it! Probably why we've got a few credit cards & loans with what others would think of as a 'scary' totalOriginally Posted by 0iD
But we do have enough 'assets' that should the need arise to pay everything off, we could do.. without selling the house from under ourselves...
I have no savings of my own at the mo, I'm only just 18 and haven't been working much at all. However, I do make a point of not letting my bank balance drop below a certain amount. At the moment I have no necessary expenditure, but that will change should University all work out. I'm working a bit at the mo, so I'm thinking of putting that into a savings account/ ISA. I do my best not to spend much, which means I can afford to treat myself every now and then. By doing this, most of my friends think I am a free-spending trust fund kid with expensive tastes, but it doesn't cost me as much as you might think. Which is nice.
I also don't have a CC yet, although I think I should get one to build up a credit rating. I do have a savings account, but I don't get to it until I'm 21 at the earliest. Luckily my parents have been pretty good at getting me to budget things, so I hope I won't fall into any major difficulties when I'm on my own.
The Caped Crusader :-)
I'm terrible at saving. I have a horrendous amount of credit card debt and student loans. TBH I'm in denial about them and try to ignore them.
That said I own my own home outright at the age of 26 so I'm not in a bad position overall.
£450 a month direct debit to my savings account. ATM its paying off the credit card. Then its paying for my new machine
I'm 15 and I owe my mum several hundred quid, have quite a bit in premium bonds but otherwise I just spend spend spend (all on computers!)
Me and the gf are just earning enough to pay for rent, food, petrol and the odd pint/luxury at the moment.
Hopefully I'll be able to start saving some when I get my student loan and carry on working.

£300 a month goes straight into a savings account, which was emptied last year after moving house again. Saving towards a new kitchen at the moment.
Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
I hardly earn much in my part time job atm (looking for a fulltime job) so I don't really save as much as I should. I have a savings account but it has virtually nothing in it. I'm so childish with money... I really should be saving it for the "future" but I just spend it all on unnecessary crap... Like many teenagers I spose

something like £250 a month although as bills go up such as my council tax and car insurance etc that £250 soon goes into minus £250....its a never ending fight for everyone I guess
I save loads
Still have most of my student loans left from my first two years & I'm only spending probably 25% of my earnings each month (in my IE year atm) per month atm.
I think about savings er occosionally... just watch what I'm spending really.
All my wages/student loans go straight into my savings account.. then I nibble at it when needed.
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?
I try to save around 20% of my income. Sometimes that happens, sometimes not. Depends upon which gadget takes my fancy
