    You are right. UK courts will affect the world on this issue. I will be annoyed if I lose my @gmail.com address

    Yeah, until some small company you've never heard of sues you for squatting on a domain that remotely resembles some bogus trademark it claims it has the rights to ( see this article about another annoying Euro court case, albeit this one doesn't affect us in the US http://www.fool.com/News/mft/2005/mft05101307.htm ).

    i really dont want to loose my @gmail.com address ! googlemail is to long tbh!
    i think as i will be purchasing web hosting very soon that i can just create some mail boxes with that. So may not need my gmail any more dispite how good it is

    it's about the name 'Gmail' that the problem comes from, read the bbc link it gives a run down
